Try a hard reset and see if that helps, if it doesn't look at replacing the main board

You need to set up the wireless internet connection in the TV to connect to a wireless router and then the TV will download the firmware update over the internet.

A computer and a VGA computer cable. The TV has to have the computer VGA hookup in the back of the set. Once hooked up you will need to get the proper input on the TV to VGA or PC.

I had an issue (OTA no audio in channel 2-1 and 11-1) on my Hitachi 42HDS69 so I tried to upgrade the firmware. The manual as well as the instructions on TV all state to use a MMC card. Someone on an internet forum also stated that a 7-pin MMC is needed. I tried exactly that but it did not work. Finally I tried a 128MB SD card and it worked like a charm. The firmware upgrade fixed my OTA audio issue. I went from V0108 to V0125.
All you need to do is to extract out the .F02 file and place it in the root directory of the SD card.
BTW, I did call Hitachi customer support. They refused to help due to the TV is too old (about 10 years old).
I guess it all depends on who you speak to at Hitachi?!

There is more than one fan running in the set. If one of them is not turning at the right RPM the heat sensors may cause that message to be seen. This set is not very serviceable for the non professional. If you take the back off, unplug the set. You should vacuum the air vents inside the back and outside. remove any dust that is loose, do not bump up against any parts or assemblies.
Reinstall the back and apply power. See if it works without the message coming up.
