That's the acer driver downloads page, the motherboard driver you're looking for is called the cpu driver or chipset driver. If you just installed a fresh copy of windows you should install all drivers listed for your product.

Hope that helps, good luck

Sounds like your on the great hunt for drivers! if you can obtain a backup disk from acer. but if you cant search your model number and see what other people have used to install the drivers. also try using windows update to install the hardware software

Yeah, i think your HDD might be lifespan is nearing it end.
if you want to back up your data inside that HDD, assuming you gonna buy a new HDD soon, just give your current HDD to the seller and they will gladly extract whatever they can from it to your new HDD.

To reinstall you need an external DVDROM drive and run directly the windows 7 installer as boot up disk. Because it need to run alone as boot up disk and surely it will not run when you just copy the files to external HDD.

I had a problem in my operating system of my computer acer aspire

you have to change the hard drive install the windows use an external hard drive enclosure and recover your files via usb port you can also try to image your disk unto another disk. that way everything will be in the new disk you can use a program called ghost
or bring it to a local computer shop ans ask to ghost the old hd to a new hd the new one can even be bigger but not smaller
ghost is the best way just make sure that whoever does this knows what he id doing cause if he copy the new drive into the old one everything will be lost forever....

Black screen

Black screens are never good. Usually indicating a hardware failure. You can try a top down troubleshooting method I will give you here or you can send it to the experts to fix. First remove memory and see if you hear any beeps also try replacing with new(reinstall if none). Remove hard drive as well. Now if still nothing will show then you can narrow it down to the motherboard/processor/cmos battery. I would suggest ordering a new battery first and then motherboard- try using your old processor chip on the new motherboard.

For the psswords i can recomend to reset them from BIOS but to do that you must first know them. The problem with recovery disks is solvable if you boot from an XP disc and format the C: partition in NTFS file sistem and when it starts copying files to install the windows stop the installation ( F3 or press the power button for more than 4 seconds.. don't worry you will not sustain disk damage... done it myself with the same notebook for a dozen times ) After formatting the partition C: try recovery again and it will work.
NOTE: for the formatting of the partition you must set the HDD mode from AHCI to ATA witch permits the XP setup utility to "see" the HDD. If it is set in AHCI mode the setup utility for windows XP will not detect youre HDD

How can i get update for Bios

Hi there.

You can download the BIOS update from the Acer website here:
http://us.acer.com/acer/service.do?LanguageISOCtxParam=en&miu10einu24.current.attN2B2F2EEF=3750&sp=page15e&ctx2.c2att1=25&miu10ekcond13.attN2B2F2EEF=3750&CountryISOCtxParam=US&ctx1g.c2att92=453&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=2054404012

Just select your make and model, then underneath that, select your Operating System. Then just click on the BIOS tab, then the orange icon to the left of the BIOS file.

Hope that helps.

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

Yes PXE indicates it is trying to boot off of a network LAN and does not see a harddrive.

Yes you can replace the HDD.

Your research is correct, your HDD is most likely dead in the water.

for the Aspire 3500 series, assuming same design for most older acer's.

Step 1: remove power cord, and battery
Step 2: flip computer upside down
Step 3: find the hard drive bay, there might be a cylinder like icon near it, and it will be close to the front of the system.
Step 4: remove the screws, likely 2 screws.
Step 5: on removing the plastic lid you will see a metallic box, with a plastic strip on top of it.
Step 6: on the side that has extra space there will be 1 or 2 screws, undo these
Step 7: pull the plastic strip toward the side of the computer that has space open and the whole caddy should pop out.
Step 8: take the 4 screws out of the side of the caddy and the hard drive will just slid out.
Step 9: just put new one in the same way the old one was. and reverse the steps and put your recovery disk in to install your OS.

Pull the old one out to make sure, but it is probably a 2.5" SATA HDD, and any capacity will do according to your budget.

My instructions may not be exact, but use common sense, you can do it!!
