The inverter has failed if you still have audio but the screen is black. You can get the inverter from www.tvrepairworld.com

The set likely has a light sensor on the front of it to change brightness with light changes in the room, if not in the menu to switch on or off contact LG to see with the model number what can be done.

I have seen some where the sensor had to be disconnected inside to correct this issue. Sets as far back as 50 years ago had this issue.

first how old is the tv with your first and second generation flat screens and plasma tvs alot of the logos have burned into the bottom corners of the screen and after awhile they burn so much in it grows to bigger portion of the screen and unfortuneatly there is nothing you can really do for this until its time to buy a new bulb if lcd for the tv sorry

Just fixed mine.Remove the back of the TV on my model there in a small pwer supply turn the bottom of the two pots this will darken or lighten the screen. Fine tune with the settings on the remote

From what source ? Does it happen when you play a DVD ?
