Calypso washer - LD Code - clothes still wet

I need assistance with Whirlpool Calypso washer. Bath mats washed, cleared motor of lint, will not complete spin cycle. LD code displayed, goes thru wash cycle but clothes still wet with time remaining...

Harborstuff,
The code on your machine stands for 'Long Drain'. Ld flashes if it takes longer than 5 minutes to pump out water to a point where the operating pressure switch resets. I would bet that the bath mats left a bunch of stuff stuck in the recirculation pump hose, or pump itself, and the water cannot be drained fast enough. Check the intake and exit hoses of the recirc pump. It's easiest to get to the pump through the front panel of the machine(click here). Looks like this: click here. Hope this helps.
(Definitely get under there and check to make sure the pump hoses are not clogged. At $129 it's an expensive fix for a $10 bath mat that clogged up the hose with fuzz. 'know what I'm sayin'' :o) )

BTW, I have the maintenance manual & have experience at replacing the recirc. pump, control board, motor board, touchpad, & lid switch so far.

Thanks for using FixYa. Error Ld means long drain and it flashes when the water level will not change even after the drain pump is on. To resolve this issue you’ll need to check the drain hose and the drain pump for any blockages. Also check if the pump is running fine and replace the part that has gone bad. Read a post from someone else on this - turned out it works fine, just wouldn't work with the small wet load. I added towels to the bath mat load, washed them, it spins fine. Washed clothes & that worked fine too. Yay!! Not broken. Just not found of small loads of bath mats!

I want to buy a used calypso washer that needs a repair, how much

$300 plus. If you are handy, or you know someone who is, It is a fairly easy fix. The pump assy. might run you around $100. I fix my own about once a year. Strands of clothing and lint get wrapped around the pump propeller, causing the error before it burns up. With all the other probs associated with calypso's, I wouldn't touch it (maybe if it was free?).

"Ld" (Long Drain) flashes
Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

Calypso fails to remove excess water from washed clothings

There are two separate motors, one for the tub and one for the pump. They are both controlled by the motor controller board. Since you say the water drains, the pump appears to be working but since you say the clothes are wet, the spin probably didn't happen. I would suspect the drive motor or the wiring for that motor. There are procedures on the web for testing the wiring and motor windings. Good luck. Clothes are still wet. LD code is displayed. does go thru wash cycle and rinse,butclothes remaine wet.

I had the exact same problem with code LD. I removed the bottom pan unhooked the yellow and black tubes from the gray piece with the 2 clips on it. I'm not sure if that is the pump, but any how I removed the 2 clips and the tubes look inside and seen that there was a piece of old t-shirt jamming it up. Removed it and works great. My Calypso is about 4 years old. Hope this helps.

Kenmore Calypso washer Ld code?

I just had the same problem. I borrowed my neighbors wet vac. The hose of the wet vac fit right over the end of the drain hose and I sucked out all the remaining water. My hope was that if the hose was clogged that it would clear it out. It seems that it worked. I put the drain hose back in the drain and turned on the extended spin cycle. It was working, so I put the water logged clothes back in the washer on the extended spin cycle and it took the water out. I am now in the process of washing another load to see if it really fixed the problem. I hope this helps.

hello.........
“LD” stands for “long drain,” meaning it took an excessively long time for water to drain out of the washer. Common causes for this are kinked drain hose or clothing, like panties or socks, caught in the pump suction hose. Why, I’ve even heard of bra wires coming loose and getting stuck in that hose, collecting all sorts of gookus and pinching off the flow of water to the pump. Can you imagine? Yea verily, as surely as the Sacred Suds doth eternally pass my lips, the “LD” error code springs forth from such anomalies.

LD code means your pump is cloged with lint or small piece of clothing such as a sock. I had the same code on my washer and sure enough i found my pump cloged with lint from a blanket my wife washed. hope this helps. sorry I cant help on the other code.
