Sounds like interference. Be certain no radio, fluorescent lights or other devices are nearby. If no change, try the monitor on another laptop or desktop to see if the monitor is a problem. Hope this helps.

There is probably an issue with the connection between the laptop and the monitor. Check all connections and if you can't then send it in to Acer for repairs.

Connect the monitor to a different computer (laptop or desktop), to see if the problem "follows" the monitor.

Connect a different monitor to your computer, to see if the video-card in your computer is generating the "wavy" display.

Move any "power-bars" and PC Speakers *FAR* away from the monitor, to eliminate electrical interference.

Monitor picture is wavy. Is there an adjustment for this? Thanks.

You've either got some electrical-interference (PC speakers? laptop power-supply "brick") nearby, or the video-card in your computer is "dying".

Try moving your monitor away from your computer, and connecting it to a laptop computer. If the "waves" vanish, then the monitor is OK.

Compaq Presario sr1720nx has wavy video. You can see everything okay it's just that the video is wavy and kinda taxing on your eyes. It does this with every monitor I hook it up to. I've also tried a...

Is it wavy all the time or just when windows is booted up? Try booting up in low res mode or safe mode and see if the problem continues. What is the monitor refresh rate set at? Try lowering the refersh rate. The on board video/video card may be going bad. Lowering the refresh rate may reduce the wavy picture. If it has a video card you could try installing a different card. If it has onboard video try installing a video card. Make sure you drivers are up to date.

Wavy lines, goes black during video games.

It sounds to me like the monitor's refresh rate is too low to support your current settings, and the demands of the game. Have you tried adjusting the refresh rate? If I'm right, you should be able to fix the wavy lines that way. I'm not sure how much control over the refresh rate the game takes, but if you can fix the wavy lines and the game still doesn't work, I think you're not likely to get the game to work on this monitor.
