It sounds like the porcelein on the inner or outer tub is damaged allowing rust to form.
Another possibility is that there are iron deposits in the internal hoses that are loosening.
I would (assuming you can afford the water wastage) run the machine on 'full load' and 'hot' several times with no clothes in it to see if it will flush out.

try the following, it may help:
Some washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently
allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual
if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.
If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:
* Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.
* Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel
settings are correct.

Make sure the hoses are connected correctly to the water valve on the machine. The connections will be marked with an "H" and a "C".
Given they are correct, most current washing machines have and auto temp feature on the water fill. It allows even cold water settings to bring in some hot water to make sure the water temp is hot enough to efficiently disolve your laundry detergant. The preset temps are usually around 75* for cold, and 105* for warm. Hot water comes in at whatever temp your household water temp is.

when i put the washer on programe 8 washer starts ok then then programe selector knob just carries on going round only way to stop isto turn of power
