Hi! I will be more than glad to assist u in this concern..if u bypass the router it will work, the reason why the modem wont talk to the router bcoz the router is not properly setup.. if you are using a cable modem from ur cable company provider- u need to do a mac clone on the router u have to clone the mac address of ur computer. normaly the mac of ur computer is the one register to your cable company and on the setup page of the router just selct on the internet setup, dhcp after clonning the mac address of your computer. u need to connect ur computer directly to the router and then after doing the process connect the router to the modem. if u are using a username and password, u have to use the pppoe settings on the router, if ur isp set a static ip , set it up to the router, to check the ip setting of your isp.. connect the computer directly to the modem and check if u have internet.. then click on start, run and type cmd,it will give u a dos prompt and from there type ipconfig/all and it will show u the ip address, subnetmask, default gateway, dns server.. I hope this will solve ur concern..

Make sure you use the correct cable between the router and the D-Link. If you use the blue wire it won't work. The orange and orange white pair have to be swapped with the green- green/white pair on one end of the cable only. Usually, the cable is orange in color and is called a crossover cable.

Hello.
First things first. Hook it up with the wires again to make sure it working like it was to begin with.

When that is working right, then we can focus on the wireless or the router.

A router has several ports to it: First is the power, the next is the IN cable from the modem. This will be offset from the rest of the ports. This is where the connection from the modem to the router goes. when you connect this, you should get a light on the router that indicates "Status"
Go here for an example of a connection chart: ftp://ftp10.dlink.com/pdfs/products/DI-524/DI-524_ds.pdf

The default IP address is 192.68.0.1 Connect (via wire) to the computer to set it up. Enter in the browser the default IP address and set up the router to your specifications for the Wlan (Wireless Local Area Network.)
Save your results.

I suggest that you DO NOT configure a password until after you get the signal working on your system. After that, re-enter the browser and do the following;
Change the last 2 octets to a different value: (Ex. 192.168.174.231 or something unique)
Have the SSID unique to identify your system when scanning for access.
set the security password to the highest level of the oldest equipment you have.
Nothing is fool proof, but having some security in place will make a thief go to another non protected router for an easier mark.

Good luck.

Wireless is nonexistant

You need to bridge mode your modem. And when set it to bridge mode already. Connect the dlink router. Access the gui of the router. Enter there your username and password. Powercycle modem, router and computer. Check connections. I f this didnt work, set again your modem to default, connect your router. Configure your router with username and password. Powercycle again. Check if it is working.

Wndr 3300 net gear router wont work with hn 9000 hughes net modem

I went to the Hughes web site to check out the modem. They say it is also a router. I think you will have to disable the router abilities of your WNDR 3300 Net Gear Router.

Get into the Netgear setup by loging on to it.In its WAN setup select Static IP Address and set the Static IP Address to the same as the hughes modem, except for the last number which should be about 50 greater. IE: Hughes 192.168.12.1 and Netgear 192.168.12.55.

In the DHCP setup, disable the DHCP Server

In the Wireless setup, Give your network a name is SSID. You should also set up security to keep others off you internet connection with a WEP key.

I hope this helps.

Connecting D-Link DI-634M to HughesNet HN9000

I hate it when ISPs give you devices that dictate how your network has to be setup. They should just give you a modem which give a public IP to whatever connects to it.

For this to work you have to connect the cable from the hughes box to your router on one of the four regular jacks on the back NOT the internet/wan jack you would normally use.

Set the IP of the Dlink to 192.168.0.254
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default GW 192.168.0.1

This SHOULD allow the router to act like a switch. I have a linksys that has an option to make it function as an access point , which is what you need for this modem, but I dont see any option for the d link you have to do that.

Hughes have a knowledgebase which may be of some use to you.

Connecting with internet

Yes, that is possible since you have a wireless router. Router can share internet connection. Go to this link this will help you setup the wireless connection (secure it if you want)

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/wireless/Dlink/DI-524/wireless.htm then on the very bottom there is an option how to Configure Windows XP to connect to your wireless network.

I suggest this because it would be better if there is encryption on the network so people wont be able to access your internet for free (unless you give them the security key)
