Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

Model 80 top load Kenmore-tub wouldn't spin without help

When I help it get started it would finally spin-I have the pump and motor dropped-I had recently changed the pump. Looks like the connector has a broken ear (stud) inside the fiber area and I have no idea how to get that piece off. Also I am curious about whether the clutch might be the problem-now it is getting too expensive to fix I think....

Hi, Does the washer agitate at all? If the washer won't agitate or spin, it is probably the coupler. The coupler is the piece that connects the motor to the transmission. Is that the piece you see broke?
Take the motor out and change the coupler.
If the coupler is ok, then the clutch might be the problem.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.

The double shaft motor does double duty. One direction for wash and another direction for spin. In wash mode the water stays put in the tub because the pump is running backwards. In spin mode the motors turns in opposite direction. This pumps the water out and spins the clothes dry. From what you have described the drive coupler is toast.

Kenmore 80 Model #11020802990 Won't Spin!!

i think you have a basket drive tube problem, what happened to mine was the thrust washer had ground off the bottom of my tube, the clip that holds the brake release arm fell off,the arm fell down breaking the 2 little pins on it, without that arm on the tube it won't release the brake allowing the basket to spin, you would have to remove the tranny to see if there is a problem there,,,,,also the top of the tube there is 2 notches that line up in your drive block, could be broken there,,,,you would have to remove the agitator to check there!

Kenmore 80 series top load problem. Washer is spinning, but not draining water back out.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

If everything else is working, I'd check the hoses to and from the pump and the pump itself.

Following is an explanation of how to remove the cabinet and pump from the motor.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=137

Pull the hoses off the pump and check for obstructions.

Check inside the pump for any blockage and be sure that the impellers turn.

If necessary, pull the tub and check the discharge hole leading to the pump itself.

You don't need a special spanner wrench to remove the spanner nut. A 10" pipe wrench hooked onto one of the nut tabs and a short smack with a hammer on the wrench handle usually loosens the nut.

Don't directly hit the soft metal basket tub block. Put a short piece of wood under it and hit the wood up with the hammer.

Kenmore 80 series model 110 after wash clothes are left soaking

when empty and off, open the lid and see if you can rotate the inner wash basket by hand. if you can easily, then the clutch is worn. This will prevent the basket from going into a high spin and wringing the clothes out. Replace the clutch by removing the top control panel, removing the clips that hold the cabinet, pull cabinet off, remove drain pump clips and pump, remove motor clips and motor, remove transmission (3 bolts). Now you will have access to the clutch, replace as needed, reverse dissasembly to complete. remember to unplug.

It is normal to have some water in the wash tub when the spin cycle starts. It will gradually drain down as the tub begins to spin faster. However, if you STILL have an abnormal amount of water in the tub as it begins the high speed final spin, you may have a slow drain problem with your plumbing, or something restricting the water in your drain pump. If you've never had drain problems before, I would suspect you might need to check your pump. I'm posting the following link that explains how to replace the pump, because it explains how to access and remove it:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r397092-replacing_water_pump

These pumps are NOT serviceable and are sealed. Do not attempt to disassemble it. You can, however look inside the pump to see if anything is lodged in it. Underwire bra hoops, socks and underwear are common items that are found. Another thing to inpsect is the back of the pump where it mounts to the Drive Motor shaft. The hole in the pump should have two flat sides. Sometimes, this hole rounds out and the pump begins to free spin on the motor shaft. Let me know if you require additional assistance. I hope this information helps you.

NOTE: If you require a replacement pump, they can be ordered ar searspartdirect.com or replairclinic.com. Make sure you have your COMPLETE model number handy.

Won't spin clothes dry... possibly bad wiring??

Casa, make sure your model number starts with 417.43042 otherwise this post is trash. First have your husband drop the bottom panel and check the drain pump for debris, coins, etc. This model will not go into high spin if the pressure switch detects there is water in the tub. There was also a service flash out on this model regarding the timer not advancing. This had to do with electrical noise generated by the opening and closing of the timer contacts. This sent corrupt signals to the motor controller and the washer would stall in cycle. They corrected this problem by adding 3 jumpers to the motor controller. Part 134306000. My feeling is that you have a pump drain issue, but it's hard to tell without being there....Catriver...post back.

Drain pump starts and stops prior to final spin cycle

Jayron, is the motor jogging? start to spin, stop, start to spin stop. If so, your motor is jogging between the high and low start windings. The motor during spin should start on the high speed windings and stay there until most of the water is drained. GE came out with a new motor, harness and run cap because of this. If you have a meter, there should be a white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V and it's doing this jogging, replace the motor with the kit...Let me know if this the issue, Catriver..post back.
