Question about GE WJSR1070A Top Load Washer
I have a wjsr4160d5ww top load 3.2 ge washer. the timer is running and won't stop. water will not come in but it tries to pump it out. The timer just clicks and grinds away. A new timer cost 137.00 and a new washer 360.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Your drain line is too low or has a blocked air gap. Take the drain line out of the drain. Hold it up high and turn the washer on to fill. If it fills and begins agitation, repair the drain line problem.

Your type of washer usually has a belt theat runs the agitator and spins the tub. The pump is hooked by a direct coupling. If you are still pumping that tells me the motor works but the belt is probably broken or worn so badly that it no longer drives.
Have the belt replaced or do a search for "appliance parts" and then enter your model number. You will get a parts menu to order a new belt from for your unit.
Belt replacement for some of these units can be a major chore... then again some are relatively easy, but consider yourself warned if it is a real project....
I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!
Thanks for using Fixya!!

usually when water is turned off for a repair, rust and other things can clog it. the best thing to do is clean out the pump, and see if its dirty.

Hello, Welcome to FixYa.
The first thing I'd suggest is removing the filter in the pump you spoke of and insuring the pump is clear...there may be alot of water though so hopefully you're close to a drain or have some buckets/towels handy.
If that fails to resolve the problem it could be a plugged or faulty pressure switch. Have you run a system diagnostic yet ?
Here's how and the subsequent code meanings...in the event you don't know...
Let me know if any of this helps or perhaps you cannot read it, It is all included in the service manual I can send via email if you could use it.
