Sounds like the cable has broke inside the tube or it popped out of place. loosen the bolt on the motor casing holding the tube and separate the two pieces and pull the cable out. Should be a square at each end of cable.. if not post again

What do i need for replacement string? Can i go heavier or stay with the smaller string? This is for mastercraft 20v grass trimmer. thanks

the size of the string is critical in electric driven trimmers
it does have mass and the thicker string will over load the motor
stay with the recommended string size and keep to the recommended distance to the grass being cut
string line cutters work on the principle that the tip speed of the string is what does the cutting and that means that the first 1/2" of string cuts the grass
the rest back to the hub acts like a brake as it is dragged across the grass and slows the cutting speed and loads the motor
remember that the machine is designed to trim edges and not to cut down growth-- that is a job for heavier duty units

Why did my weedeater lost power when trimming on grass but still spun?

There is a cable that runs from the motor to the trimmer head check that. Remove trimmer b.y removing small screw at the base of trimmer head

Check to see if there is any material collected around the base of the head, around the tube that provides the energy to spin. It may cause the power to be diminished a great deal, so that must be cleaned away thoroughly. Check to see if you can spin the head freely by your hand, without the motor being on. If not, it may need lubrication down the indide of the power shaft. A light grease would do that, or even a heavy oil poured down the shaft, but not too much.

The motor is working but the trimmer part stopped spinning. I checked the line but there is plenty, I removed and replaced the line spool but still not working.

Does the trimmer head spin freely? If so then it is somehow disconnected from the motor. There should be a motor coupler somewhere near the motor and also near the trimming head. Make sure they are connected.

Hi, I have a RYOBI ELT1100QFA electric line

electric line trimmers suffer from one major design problem
the motor has phosphor bronze bushes and the bottom bush goes dry from the grass juice and wears out and the armature poles out and lacks power to work
to get 5 years is good but it is time to take it in for a service or junk it and get a new one

I just bought a BD Grass Hog and after 1 h of use,

If the noise was up by the handle it may have been the drive pulley breaking loose of the shaft on the motor causing the motor to spin and stop the flex shaft of the trimmer. Another possibility would be the small belt that aids the flex shaft. If those don't fix the problem check the lock nut that bolts the flex shaft to the spool housing. If the shaft broke free from the housing the motor would still run and the shaft would turn, but the spool housing would not spin if it does it could be stopped very easily. Definately check the warranty.

B&D grasshog XP motor squeeled and spin rate slowed. repairable?

Hello,

I just saw your post. Check the area between the housing and the head, along the shaft. Fibrous debris (in my area, this loosely translates into "lilly leaves") gets wound around the shaft, and will slow the universe down to a crawl. The only way to get it loose is to cut it loose, or unwind it.
Best regards, --W/D--

Motor spins, shaft does not...

I'm in a similar situation with my GH1000, except that it was a part that comes with whole motor assembly. I could sell you the shaft assembly of my trimmer, or I'll buy your motor assembly. Yes?
