Question about GPS
There is really only one way to find a switched hot, and that's to use a meter under the dash. You will have to locate a 12 volt+ wire and then turn the key off to check it. It's that or use a 'wire clothes hanger,' straighten it out and push a wire through the fire wall, there are some holes going through already. It's doable. Then just route it over to the fuse box, and there are plenty of options there. It is really the way to go here. if you take it in to the shop, this is what they'll do, so you may as well do it and save a bundle. The black wire just goes to a ground point (any screw).

The best way to solve this is go straight to the fuse block. There is a "bus jumper" made for this application. A buss jumper is a little metal piece that fits in the slot with the fuse and lets you tie a wire in with its power source. You will need to use a multimeter or a test light to identify which fuses have power only when the ignition is on. Tie the buss jumper in to that fuse and re run the wire to the GPS. Now when you turn off the key the power on the unit will die. Hope this helps. Please re-post with updates or questions. If you feel that this solution has then please accept and rate. Thanks cj2176.
