SOURCE: screen turns on for a second then flashes off.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitorswillblow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitorsoverheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. You should find 5 bad capacitors. If you can take a picture or two of your board and email them to me I can tell you what to replace. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and- connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new onethe same way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Capacitor ?

On table saws with induction motor there can be a capacitor but also a centrifugal starter (not oft buts possible) unit inside the motor with a capacitor . if the saw is buzzing , yes there is a capacitor problem, they rarely shorting, between 20 and 60uf or more are neccesary depends on size of motor.
If you can measure with an ohm meter then you see thats sucking on the battery of the multimeter, and turn the polarisation after 5 seconds the you see its unloading in negative way , if there is no response on the meter or its bulged or whatever replace it .

580EX flash popped twice and sparked gets hot even turned off defaults to TLL i use always in manual screen comes on but lite up opned up flash and saw black soot on a card behind where the bulb is bulb...

Stop using the flash immediately and don't open it. The capacitor in camera flash can store enough energy to kill you if you make contact with it!

You have a defective flash and it needs to go into Canon for repair. There's not anything you can do to repair it yourself.

I have a Mitsubishi Model WS-65511 the green light on the front was flahing (would not stop) I replaced the 7 Capacitors as was suggested. The light flashed for a while then stopped and turned green

I think I advised you before (on this page you will find a "make a comment button" which allows follow up questions and answers without posting another question.

Green power light now comes on and goes out in few seconds:

On front of set (not the remote) press and hold when that happens both the menu and input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a 2 digit code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, pause and repeat that several times---this is an error code---let me know what code you find.

Note: if you have unplugged the set it clears the error codes and you have to plug back and try to turn set on--let it fail and repeat the self check.

My 25-year old Craftsman radial arm saw was stored and not used in a damp shed for many years. I got around to completely refurbishing it, tuning it up, and making a great work bench for it only to find...

start with the capacitors. you may have 2, a start and a run capacitor. also you can spray the inside of the motor with WD-40 and turn it by hand until it feels loose.
i was just looking through old post and saw yours.

The inverter is the most common item to fail on a LCd monitor. Capacitors usally fail the most. Are the tops of any of them popped up. If you had any shorted transistors the fuse would probably be blown. Usally labeled F1. I would replace all the capacitors first and go from there. Capacitors are cheap.

TV turns on for a split second then back to standyby

i think your capacitor is blown, do a google search for insignia, lcd, capacitor...
you can buy another one for about $2 but its a pain to install, you can also instead buy a new powerboard for about $80, its an east install and you wont blow more capacitors
