An old battery can sometimes be the cause of buzzing sounds, it grows louder when the battery runs lower, and when reception is poor.

If the battery is old, consider replacing it with a new one.

This is a common problem, the solution is actually called the "Treo Buzz Fix".

Earlier models of the Treo 600 had an unshielded cable that connects the battery to the main board. This cable causes loud buzzing and interference on the Treo.

If your treo is under warranty (unlikely probably...) then send it back to Palm for replacement.

If not, try the fix. The fix involves disassembling your Treo and wrapping aluminum foil around the offending cable. Here is a guide:
http://mytreo.net/treofaq/BuzzFix

And here is a forum on MyTreo with high resolution pictures of the process, to help you:

This is a somewhat dangerous procedure. It is possible to damage your treo if you aren't careful. Follow all instructions EXTREMELY carefully.

Good luck! And don't break your Treo!

Unable to hotsync treo 600 with my computer

What is happening with the Sync? Does your PC and the Palm Desktop Manager recognize your TREO 600? If not, the issue may be that somehow the driver for your device was removed. I would suggest upgrading to the latest version of the Palm Desktop Manager and try plugging in your TREO 600 again and try synching.

Here is the location for the free software from Palm. http://www.palm.com/us/software/palmsoftware.html

You also have to make sure that the setting on the Palm Desktop Manager is the same as the type of cable you are using. If it is a USB cable, have that setting on your PC's Palm Desktop Manager Hotsync settings.

Can you change from Palm to Outlook on your Treo 600

Simplest method for 'switchers': Assume that your Treo 600 has the data you need (it does but you are focusing on your Palm Desktop in your question). Install the Palm Desktop software again using the CD but this time, choose the option to synchronize with Outlook during the installation process. This will switch the synchronization to Treo <-> Outlook instalead of Treo<->Palm Desktop. Assuming your Treo is recently synched with Palm Desktop, this will merge the data you have in the Treo with that of your Outlook profile.
