SOURCE: Oven Problem

Check power going to the electronic module in back of the display. If power there you have a blown module. If no power check for a blown thermal fuze.

SOURCE: Kenmore Gas Oven F10

check the temperature sensor. TURN POWER OFF!If you open the panel where the controls are located you will see a connector that has about 10 wires on it. 2 of these wires will be violet. Pull off the connector and check the resistance between the 2 violet wires. It should be around 1000 Ohms.
If not, it is bad. part# for the Kenmore Model 790 is 316217001 - cost is about $25.00

SOURCE: New replacement thermostat needs calibrating on my Kenmore oven

There is no real way to calibrate the thermostat. Most ovens have the same problem. By lowering the setting slightly will help get a closer temperature. Sometimes similar thermostats are substituted and may not be exactly the same as the original that came with your oven. Hope my trying to answer your question was helpful, Thanks, Sea breeze

SOURCE: My clock and temperature display is dim

Hi, this will happen over a period of time and its just heat related. the control panel isn't insulated properly and , there has been a larger than normal transfer of heat to the inside of the control panel where the circuits are housed.

If this is a problem, i recommend replacing the control board. it will fix the dim issue.

Why will my kenmore oven only heat to 212 degrees after 2 houres?

Why is the oven temperature incorrect?

The oven temperature control is usually controlled by a thermostat that uses a capillary and liquid filled bulb. When the bulb's liquid gets heated up, it expands and puts pressure on a diaphragm which opens and closes a switch that controls the gas to the burner. Just set the dial to what you need the temperature to be. Over time, it is possible for your thermostat to lose its calibration. Sometimes, the thermostat sensing bulb comes loose from the holder. If it is out of place, the thermostat may be getting faulty readings. If this is the problem, re-aligning the bulb properly will take care of this problem.

Digital display models use a sensor to control temperature. If this is faulty, replace it. Other ovens use a mechanical system to control the temperature.

On many models, you can adjust your oven thermostat using a small screwdriver. The adjusting screw is located on the thermostat valve stem. Remove the knob and you'll see the screw underneath it. You want to turn the oven on and run it through at least two cycles while watching a calibrating thermometer in the oven for high and low temperatures. Adjust the screw as necessary to fine tune the temperature.

Some models don't have an adjustable thermostat, and you will have to replace the thermostat if you want to resolve the problem.

Oven doesn't get to desired temp.

Hello there:
When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly. If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective. Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details. Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat. If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.

CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO CALIBRATE THE OVEN. OVEN TEMPERATURE IS OFF 50 DEGREES. INSTALLED A NEW THERMACOUPLE. THIS DID NOT HELP THE PEOBLEM. OVEN WAS PURCHASED IN 1992. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Without the Model Number I can only give you Basic instruction.

If your machine is Digital the best way to calibrate if find the manuel of your machine useing your Model number.

Some of the digital models : select bake and press and hold the up or down Temp button for 5 Sec to enter the calibration mode.

Some models require you do get the temp to over 400 deg befor you can enter the Calibration mode.

If your machine has a turn knob ... Take the knob off and see if there is a small screw in the center... This is the calibration screw.

Oven will not heat.

Usually, when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

It bakes poorly Here are two instances of when food "bakes poorly:"

  • When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.

  • When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly.

OVEN WILL NOT COME UP TO TEMPERATURE

Hello,

You can calibrate the oven on this model. Press the bake button, adjust the bake temperature up to 550 degrees and then press and hold the bake button until a 0 displays. Now you can adjust the oven temperature up or down to match the display.

Here is a repair manual link that you can use to download frigidaire repair manuals. The one for 30 inch freestanding ranges will have the section on calibrating the oven's electronic control.

Thanks
