Question about GE Profile PFSF6PK Bottom Freezer French Door Refrigerator

1 Answer

Loud buzzing/rumble when running

I have a ge profile, bottom freezer, french door refrigerator that is less than a year old. In the past month it has started making a terrible loud "buzzing" noise whenever it runs--sometimes so loud it drowns out the tv in the next room. repairman came and of course it made no noise...also seems to run ALL THE TIME! ....It didnt do this in the beginning, just the last few weeks. It has almost a shudder effect to it and is very irritating.....most dissatisfied....

If you think the control board is bad it can be replaced. I would need a model number though. there is a tag somewhere on the fridge, most likely on the rear of the frindge. I can do a little diggin for a solution for you if you can provide me with a model number. Better to find the actual problem than to go right out and buy a control board which may not be the problem

GE French door profile freezer is not freezing

Call the service company back and make them fix the problem, period. If they said that would fix it then they just bought the repair no matter how much it costs.

Loud buzzing sound. warm fridge and freezer

Could not find info for the model listed could it be PFS22SBASS...any way the most common reason for your issue is the main motherboard part #WR55X10942
prices vary $180 - $200. The circuit that operates the compressor is most likely at fault. Most boards are located at rear of unit lower right, it controls all refer functions. Not hard to instal,l but due to the cost most electrical parts bought are not returnable.

One doesnt like to hear it but possibly cut your losses and look for a less complicated fridge with minimum electronics.

GE Profile Refrigerator (Model #20) w/freezer on the bottom

If the problem disappears (for a while) when the freezer reaches 32F, then I know what the problem is.

The GE Profile refrigerators (and likely other models as well) often don't defrost properly, especially in humid climates. So they can develop ice buildup internally, especially if the air vents at the back of the freezer are blocked by frozen food. Once that happens, that ice can interfere with the cold air circulation booster fan that runs when the freezer temperature is too warm. Then you get a LOUD buzzing noise from the fan blades, as they bang into the ice.

The immediate "solution" is to be sure nothing blocks the air vents, and then to melt the ice that interferes with the fan. You can turn the fridge off for a while (with the food removed so it doesn't spoil), and/or get a hair dryer and heat the inside back of the freezer, until the ice melts and falls away from the fan. (Just be careful not to block the nozzle of the hair dryer, or it may burn out from overheating!)

But the ultimate solution is to buy another refrigerator, one that is NOT a GE! And that makes me sad, because GE used to make GREAT refrigerators. My last GE refrigerator is nearly 20 years old, and still works well, and it does so QUIETLY.
