among the icons on the main page do you see something that looks like a gear? tap to see list of settings. Go to second set of icons to change info. At bottom of second set is circle with lines in it. This is keyboards and languages, tap. top of list is languages, tap and then tap small arrow on right of device. This brings up list of languages to choose from. 3rd down should be English US, 2nd is English for England.

Unfortunately the Kindle Fire does not support the Chinese language at the moment. You may install Google Play store and then install a Chinese Translator.
