Sound but no picture

Could be several things. Suggest you check the scart connection to the TV. Is it in the right socket? Is it fully plugged in? Have you selected the right input on the TV? Try a different Scart lead if you have one.

I am trying to connect a new Toshiba SDK 1000 dvd player to replace an older GoVideo that worked fine as a player but lost its ability to communicate with remote (bad sensor, I think). I get picture and...

Is the TV PAL or NTSC? The symptom you are experiencing is what would happen if you are trying to play back a NTSC signal on a PAL TV or vica versa. If you have a scart connection on theTV then use a scart lead to connect from the DVD player to the TV. Set the DVD player for RGB output which is independent of PAL & NTSC.

Does the phillips flat screen tv have to be on a particular channel to operate the dvd player

Yes it has to be on the right av/ext

If you have connect the DVD player via a Scart lead all you have to do when your TV is on is then turn the DVD player power on and this should auto change your channel for you..... The scart lead send a voltage upto the tv so this changes the channel for you.

If this for any reason does not work. Then you will have to use your remote for the TV to flick through the AV/source button until you get to the DVD

Hope this helps you out.

Panasonic dvd rv32 tv set at ch 00, play, sound only - no pic

you idealy need to use a scart lead from the dvd to the tv, then pick the "av" chanel it is plugged intoon the tv. You get a much better picture using a scart lead.

I have a Philips DVD player/Recorder which is attached to a Samsung Television and cassette recorder I get a very good picture but no sound. The Phillips recorder is a DVDR 3480

IF it is connected via a scart lead, make sure that the connectors at both ends are pushed in securely to the DVD and TV.

Scart connectors have 21 pins, and the audio pins are at the opposite end to the video pins, so if the connector isn't in straight, you either get sound & no picture or vice versa.

If this isn't the case, give more details on the connection.
