Question about Bunn VPR Coffee Maker

Bunn coffeemaker steaming and bubbling over when OFF

Twice this week our office coffee maker has started steaming and bubbling and spraying water out while turned off.
I've poured in a pitcher of water into the tank which stops the steaming and bubbling. The water sprays out into the pot and then everything is fine again. (This has also happened a few times randomly in the past.) This coffee maker is at LEAST 12 years old - probably older - because it was here when I started working here.
What would cause this and is there a solution or do we need a new pot?
Thanks!

We left vinegar in the coffeemaker overnight. Seems to have done the trick - water is heating up now after 20 or so minutes instead of several hours.

Bunn coffeemaker starts before water completely in reservoir

You might try this first. Remove the entire top lid and remove the clear suction cup located near the back of the brewer. Clean this cup with white vinegar and also take your deliming tool and place it in the hole where the suction cup was and clean out. If this does not correct the problem, please call customer service with the model and code date. If your machine is 3 years old or less, we can replace it at no cost. If it is over 3 years old, we will replace it at a reduced price.

We find water under the coffeemaker in the morning.

Sounds like a leaking water pipe from the water source, unless you have a over temp heater and this results in steam and dripping.

Thermostat is either bad or your heating element is bad. Check both and also check for calcium and lime build up

Bad tasting coffee

you can always clean a coffeemaker with vinegar, but always pour in cold, so you can do it twice or more, but dont re-use the stuff you just used, wait till it's cold or just use some other.after use clean by let water through 2 or 3 times, (also only cold water)

If you still have warranty on the machine take it in to the nearest service center.
Its probably a lose pipe in the machine. so if you dont have warranty left just open it up and look for lose pipes and reconnect them.

Hook it up to cold water. It has a heating element in the tank that heats the water.

My bunn is too slow

Use the de-liming spring to clean the copper tube behind the spray head. Pour several pots of clear white vinegar through the unit to further remove lime and scale from the interior of your coffee maker. My Bunn is 24 years old, and the only replacement parts I've ever required are new carafes and the 4041 silicone washer repair kit.
