This is a Panasonic uf-490 laser fax printer

  • deadhead Nov 24, 2007

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, was out of town. The problem is strictly with the printer, as I can get this to happen without the computer even hooked up and used as only a copier fax machine.

How to stop orange wi fi light from blinking

The blinking WiFi light on your printer could indicate that it's trying to communicate with your wireless network or it's not connected to your wireless network anymore. A quick fix to this problem can be achieved by rebooting your system. Simply unplug and re-plug your printer and your wireless router into the power outlet and reboot your computer. Once everything turns back on, check the status of the WiFi light and try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.
You can also do the following steps to reset the printer wireless network adapter:1. From the printer operator panel, press the Setup button.2. Select Network Setup.3. Select Reset Network Adapter.4. Hit the OK button.
The WiFi light will momentarily turn off and then on solid orange. You can then try to reconfigure the printer to connect to wireless network using the Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer. Go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 4600 Series folder > Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen.
However, if you wish to have it connected directly to your computer. Simply connect the printer with the USB cable that came with it in the package.
Should you still need assistance, please leave a comment to my response and I'll get back to you. Should this resolves your problem, your rating will be greatly appreciated.

Appears on screen 83c00020 on a blue screen with the on/off sign how can i get it to start again

This indicates a hardware fault with the printer. Sometimes resetting the unit will solve the problem. Unplug all the cables (USB, phone and then power) to the printer. Wait at least 15 seconds. Reconnect the power cable. I usually pull the power cable from the printer and then the wall outlet and then reconnect the cord to the wall outlet and then the printer. Check if this solves the problem.

If it doesn't help, repeat the remove cables step and wait a while. When you are ready to plug the power cord back in, press and hold OK and On while you plug in the power cord. (A second person will help for this step.) Next with the printer on, unplug the power cord. When ready to reconnect the power, press and hold # and 6 as you plug in the printer. Release the keys when the screen goes blank and then follow the on-screen directions. (On some HP printers, it's Cancel and OK that you press at the first step. A few use OK and Help. There are other key codes that can get you into the reset mode as well: # 3 and # 9 for example.)

If none of the resets work, then the printer needs service. If it is out-of-warranty, decide if the cost is worth it for you.

I hope this helps.

Brother HL-2170W laser printer goes into sleep mode quickly. How can I turn off the sleep mode.

I found this from Tony Benjamin
I have tested it on two different Brother Lasers and it worked.

To cancel DEEP SLEEP on Brother Printer
  1. Go to General Setup then OK
  2. Ecology then OK
  3. SLEEP TIME then OK
  4. While sleep time is display push Down Arrow and CANCEL at the same time!
  5. DEEP SLEEP on/off toggle by Arrow keys
  6. OK to SAVE Deep Sleep off.
It is a shame they don't have this in the web interface or manual they sent with the printer.

Unable to connect to the laptop computers

dear Sure there is, but it's supposed to connect via a LAN switch. Since it worked at your old place, did you miss a step? Was the printer plugged into a router and the computer also plugged into the same router?

Start with the wired network setup section in the quick start guide. It might give you an idea on what to do http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Quick%20Setup%20Guide/QSG_MFC_490CW_EN_1578.PDF

Got a new laptop and need to connect the hp laser jet p3005

Hi Terry_preyse !!

Thank you for writing to Fixya.com.

To setup a printer you'll require:
  • A Printer
  • An USB cabel or Wireless Card(if want to setup wireless printer)
  • Driver disc & it'll be shipped with the Printer
  • Last but not least, 15-20 minutes.
Unpack the printer carefully, plug the USB cabel in the printer. Don't connect it to the computer & turn on the Printer & here's what you need to do.

  1. Step 1 Set up your computer on your desk so that you are able to plug in your printer and other accessories in an orderly way. The PC is the center of your home office and all things should be setup in relation to this. Consider how you’ll run cables before selecting a location.
  2. Step 2 Assemble your printer. Few printers are ready to go out of the box. Open it up carefully and pull out the quick setup instructions. This usually entails affixing trays and installing toner and drums.
  3. Step 3 Decide on a method. Wired or wireless? Wireless will save you a lot of hassle but if you are on a tight budget wired does the job as well.
  4. Step 4 Install the drivers. Insert the CD that came with your printer into your computer and install the drivers before connecting your printer.
  5. Step 5 Connect with cables. Using a USB cable or a parallel cable, connect your printer to your computer. USB cables have a trapezoid shaped plug on the end that goes into the printer and a rectangle shaped plug that goes into the computer. Parallel cables will have holes on the computer end and pins on the printer end.

Hope this will help !
