You can hear the motor try to start short pull but does not turn. Randomly moving the dial to other setting with cause the unit to start. Like air dry and will not complete the cycle. also, heat does come on when it randomly starts again.

I would like to thank the ones who responded to giving me a 'hand' in repairing my dryer. I did like you said & changed out the coils & now the dryer is working like it should.

Sorry I'm way late with this but I've only just noticed it. Unplug the machine from the mains! Remove the lid (with a torx screwdriver) and you'll notice a small circular device with 2 leads attached on the top of the machine, in the centre there's a small button, press it and it should click......you've fixed it This is a thermal cutout safety device designed to switch the drying heater off if it becomes too hot. The probable cause for this is that you've over filled the machine and the air didn't circulate freely. as a rule of thumb, dry 1/2 as many clothes as you wash.
SOURCE: LG DLG2532 Gas Dryer will only dry on manual setting
If you use dryer sheets, LG recommends no. Dryer sheets cause a film that will not allow the sensors to feel the clothes moisture during the drying process thereby causing the computer to countdown the timer quickly. To clean out the sensors, use a green pad and scrub the sensor bars inside the dryer drum. That should remove the film left by the dryer sheets.

If your dryer doesn't heat properly, check this:
Venting restriction: Disconnect the dryer temporarily from the vent. If the flame stays on for a longer period, you may have an air flow obstruction to the outside.
Gas valve coils
Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time. Also, in your case, the coils may work fine initially, but heat build up can cause the coil(s) to malfunction and when they cool down will work again.

Yank the filter out the top. Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing. Use a putty knife to pop the top and then remove the screws holding the front on. NOTE: raise up on the front panel slightly so you won't damage the bottom clips. Get the front out yer way and remove the drum. Clean out the dryer and oil the rollers and idler. Use this handy ROUTING GUIDE to see how to put the belt back.
