Troy Bilt Self Propelled quits running also

I have same problem! Self Propelled purchased early June, used maybe 6 times, ran perfectly. Used this past Sunday, no problems. On Mon, it was running maybe 2 mins then died. Now will start after a few pulls, then dies after about 5 secs. Nothing is engaging (blades nor propulsion). Any help appreciated!

Troy built mower has gas and spark with new plug will not start ,it does not even cough or sound like it is going to start, ran perfect when last ran.

take off the air filter cover and shoot a little gas into the carb.
if it sputters you probably need to have the carb cleaned.

Pull mower rope on troy built self propelled mower and it jerks it back out of your hand, hard,,and will not start

Hi,
This sounds like the engine is out of time.
Usually this happens when the blades hit something hard and shears a small aluminum"key" between the crank shaft and the flywheel.
This is reparable. The little key is less than a buck. A person needs some skills to remove the flywheel to replace the "key".

Troy-Bilt Briggs & Stratton 550 restarting

Troy, Unless you are using old fuel (it breaks down after 1 week) it sounds like you have a faulty spark plug. Replace this first, drain any old fuel and replace with fresh fuel (premium unleaded). A faulty plug will work one minute but then fail like you have described.

Can't find the oil drain plug on Troy Bilt with 5.5 Honda engine

You may want to look under the deck. They sometimes put them there. And if it is a self propelled, you will probably need to remove or loosen the plastic cover that protects the self propelled belt.

You are looking for a nickel sized plug that has a square peg. Use an extension piece for a socket set if you don't have the proper plug removal tool.

You need to remove a pulley to put the new belt on.
