Question about Sharp Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Sharp Television LC-43UB30U 4K Ultra that has problems. Can anyone help me determine exactly what component inside the television is bad based on the details of the symptoms?

It has vertical bands on the picture that contain fast moving colorful horizontal lines. It appears as a snowy picture. Sometimes the picture flashes between tinted light and dark colors. Sometimes it has flickering horizontal lines that come and go intermittently. Every once in a while, this problem clears up but then comes back right away. It happens on every input and also causes distortion of the menus also.

They keep saying signal is weak check your source connection what does that mean

It means exactly what it says, the signal coming to your television is weak. It is usually bad connections in cable, incorrect aerial positioning in over air or satellite signals.

Remove any input plugs, and check that the wires aren't oxidized, that they are shiny and clean.

Sharp Acquos power indicator flashing and won't turn back on

Power indicator blinking is an indication that the protection circuit inside the unit has been activated to prevent further damage. You may need to have the unit checked by qualified technician. Most probable cause is a damage component in the power supply circuit or those directly connected to it (mostly output component).

Remote's menu and input buttons, and television Input button not responding

well the problem sounds like it could be the IR sensor on the tv or somthing in that circut that is failing or the EPROM chip that controls : Vol up/down , Channel up/down , Power on/off ,Menu , Input selection , ect... is failing, thus this will trigger the protection circut to shut the tv down. this kind of a problem only gets worse and can dammage other components if not repaired soon so it will need testing to determine the exact cause

Sharp Aquos LC-32GA3E turning off and on

this is not i a job you should do your self as it could do more damage than good this would be a job for a tv repair person.
QUESTION FOR YOU : are you running the tv straight from the power in the wall or a extension cord.
as an extension cord could definitely cause this problem too.

HDTV picture staticky, cuts out

I suggest contacting Sharp directly. I just did and received absolutely nothing from them. But if others such as myself who have the exact same problem as you ( I own a LC32D40U just over 2 yrs old) contact then maybe something can get done.

I will certainly NEVER recommend a Sharp product to anyone and will as of this moment respond to every message out there letting everyone know exactly how bad Sharp's product are. I would recommend the Sony XBR series to anyone looking for an LCD television.

Sharp aquos

The screen resolution is determined by the source and not the television.  The source (e.g. a PlayStation 3) will query the television to determine which modes it is capable of and then (normally) use the highest available.
I've not had any problems with DVD players, computers, games consoles not managing to send 1080p so it might be worth checking the settings of the source device to see if there's anything you can change there.
Failing that I'd try and find a friend and borrow something from them that they know is working at 1080p without any problems - if the television still won't go to 1080p then its probably a fault in the HDMI cable or something odd with the television.

Sounds like a lamp error.... either a defective or broken lamp within the LCD1.gif panel itself, or you have a bad inverter.

I have a Sharp LC40LE511E. There is some sort of fault and I don't know what it is? Blinking LED lights, no picture. So, when plugged in, the power LED is red as it should be on standby. Press on button either on the TV or on the remote, and it flashes green as if it is about to come on, then it flashes back to red, and then blinks between green and red until unplugged. I have shined lights up close, but the pixels seem completely off so I don't think it's the backlights. It could be the backlights if the TV somehow knows and is preventing them from turning on, but it just doesn't feel like that's the problem. All the capacitors are fine, and in fact, all the boards and components look in quite good condition. As it is flashing green and red, I figured it could be a reset issue. The previous owner had no remote so perhaps they kept over pressing certain buttons on the TV it's self, causing some sort of crash. So, I have tried the old unplug, volume down and channel up, plug in, turn on etc. Nothing happened. Not sure if that was the right way round for this model but it seems to be the standard reset for all of them. Yes there are slightly different variations, but that is the only one I have tried, both with the onboard buttons, and the new remote buttons. The remote is legit and seems to work perfectly fine. Tried asking the people, and never got a direct response re: the actual fault code that blinking red then green, means. If anyone could at least tell me that, I could be on my way to figuring out what is actually wrong with it, or how to reset it. As the pixels seem to be completely off, it may be a power board failure, but then, why would it be teasing me with flashing green? I am perplexed. Any ideas would be much appreciated thanks. It's 109 pound for a new one, so it's really not worth getting anyone to take a look.
