This is a common problem if the GPS is hooked up to an electronic heading sensor such as an autopilot. If the heading sensor is not calibrated properly, the boat will appear to be facing the wrong direction.

If you have an autopilot, consult the installation guide and perform the sea trial procedures. That should get your boat lined up properly.

SOURCE: sea talk failure

Remove all wiring from 4000 head, hook up only 12V, if seatalk fail continues, it is the head. if seatalk fail goes away, hook in instruments one by one until the bad head is found. Seatalk is 12V red, Ground Screen(bare wire) and Data yellow (pulsing voltage). good luck 847-746-0100 John Barry

I have changed my boat and have kept the ST2000 and S100 remote and the wireless base to fit on my new boat. Is it possible to get a wiring diagram to fit this to my new boat please

We have the same setup on our vessel.

Here's the link from Raymarine for instructions to install your base unit: http://www.raymarine.com/ProductDetail.aspx?SITE=1&SECTION=2&PAGE=1020&PRODUCT=3036

(Click on Base Station & Controller installation)

And here is the link to your owners manual for your ST2000+:

Raymarine "DSM connection lost"

Murray,

Has the DSM and the E120 software been upgraded to the latest software: 4.12 for the DSM and 5.52 for the E120?

Try this first. You can download the software off Raymarine.com and burn each to a separate compact flash card.

I have seen many problems like you are experiencing solved with this simple change.

If this doesn't solve the problem, the DSM will have to go back to Raymarine for repair.

Raymarine ST6002 Smartpilot Alarm Message ''Seatalk Fail 2''

Very possible that the Wind instrument has a defective Seatalk interface - it happened to me. You could try your Wind in another boat, just connecting it temporarily to the Seatalk Bus - if it jams those it is the problem

Your autopilot should have a separate Course Computer such as the 100, 400, S1... somewhere. Some models have two SeaTalk busses, and the recommended installation is to use one bus for the 6002 control head alone, and the other bus for instruments etc, so a SeaTalk fail on the instrument bus will not disable he Autopilot. I retired my boat this way (after the dealer took the one-bus shortcut).

The real solution is to have the Wind instrument fixed. The cheapest work-around is to cut the yellow SeaTalk wire between the 6002 and the Wind, so that the Wind instrument gets power but does not affect the data bus. That should let the AP and Wind each work normally and independently (no Wind-angle mode on the AP).

Raymarine have a forum you should join for more info and help.

With the charts page up, start by hitting the find ship softkey at the bottom of the screen. If that find the boat on the chart all is good.If not you need to check you have a GPS fix. Go to GPS screen and see you are seeing satalites.
If all is good when you hit find ship and the boat disappears again from chart while underway you will need to go into the chart setup menu and see if the screen amplifier is turned off. If off turn on.This is first place to start. Hope that helps
