Is it connected to a power source? If not then it may need to be fully charged and then connected . Many GPS fail due to low battery power or a bad power source.

Usually, the Reboot routine is done by holding down the Power ON/OFF button for a while (5 seconds or more) until it reboots. Don't be surprised if it takes a minute or so.
Alternatively, consider using the RESET button ... then do the Reboot routine. Make sure your battery is well charged, remove the SD card, and hold the RESET (pin) down for 20 seconds or so (until the screen shuts off). Then do the Reboot routine.

Magellan Roadmate 1412 won't track satellites

It might mean that the signal is disrupted. Might be a software glitch. Try going outside, get a clear view of the sky. Then reboot/reset the unit. Hold the switch to the reset position or off position for 10 seconds, it will shut off. then switch it back on. It should reacquire a signal within 2-5 minutes, then it will fix on your position. If that doesn't work, try updating your software. Call Magellan Tech Support for instructions.

The screen is frozen and I can not get it to turn off

If you cannot get your unit to turn off it may be locked in the on position. Please follow the steps below to perform a soft reset on the device:
  1. Slide and hold the power key to the on position for 15 seconds
Once the screen goes blank you will be able to turn the unit back on and continue using the unit normally. To prevent the unit from freezing or locking up in the future, please ensure that your unit has the latest version of system software. Please see the following article for update instructions:

Maps will not load

reboot by holding the red "ON" button down until it shuts down. then hold down button until it reboots. You may have to download the maps from your cd to a blank 2 gb sd card and see if that will load.

Screen goes blank after locating sattilites.

Accordingto Garmin, this problem can be fixed by disabling the WAAS feature in teh set up menu. There is an incompatibility between the old Garmin software and latest WAAS upgrades. Later software from Garmin is supposed to fix this problem.

STREET ADDRESSS SCREEN BLANK

Try removing the memory card, then performing the problematic functions, then shut off the unit. Wait 5 minutes, insert memory card, turn on unit and perform functions again, see if it works.

Screen blanks out

Please go to the Garmin website and update the internal software in your GPS unit. A new satellite was launched in 2008 and is causing problems once your unit locks onto it. In the meantime, you can go into setup and disable WAAS. That will fix your problem temporarily. Do the update and see if that fixes this problem. If it does, please come back and rate our solution.

Clarion Nice 430 not giving current GPS position

I had the same problem. If you go to the about screen you will probably have an old firmware issue. Mine was 3.1.2007. Clarion is supposed to be sending me an update disk since I bought the unit online and it did not come with the most recent firmware/software. If you bought it from a retail place they should have the disk and can upload it for you. Mine only worked until I powered it down. You were supposed to be able to go to the advanced screen, clear all data, power it down and back on. That worked one time and once I shut it down again it never worked for me again. I reloaded the original disk and again it worked until a power down. You just need the new software.
Good luck

Screen goes blank

Maybe the setting of your video display was change to higher setting, and your screen cannot handle the said setting.

When a "safe mode" message appears during opeing, select that options, then at the desktop right click your mouse, chose properties, then setting, then change the screen resolution to lower range.

GPS screen went blank

My problem exactly. Unit would start up, acquire satellites, then the screen would go blank with a single vertical line. Unit would not respond to buttons or even turn off. Unit works fine after I did the reset:

- w/unit OFF, press and hold QUIT+DOWN+MENU
- press and release the power button, release DOWN, keep holding QUIT+MENU for 5 seconds.
- unit prompts something like: "erase all data;" choose yes.
- you will lose waypoints, etc.

Go to the Garmin support area for details.
