I have a Rowenta Pro. Iron, model DE-86.1A with auto shut-off. It sticks on auto shut-off. I have to move it around for it to heat up, as indicated by the sensor light on the top.

- No, it used to heat up on it's own and then shut off if left for too long. Now, it will not heat up unless I hold it at an odd angle, and even then it will click back off. All this is indicated by the sensor light on the top of the handle. RED means the iron is on and YELLOW means the iron is heating. The heating stops before reaching the desired temp.

- I've had it for years. Loved it but no more warranty. :( Thank you for your help!

I believe that is how the safety feature works.

Once the iron detects no movement for a certain period of time (the iron assumes you have finished ironing) the iron will shut of the heating element.

One you have moved it around, the timer should prevent it from auto shutting down for a period of time.

- thanks for more info

it looks like there is a problem with the timer circuit, really not much you can do here, if it still has warranty return it for warranty. If you have a friend who is an electrican, ask him to take a look for any obvious, else it will be cheaper buying a new iron.
