My Canon 1D MkII suddenly started capturing images completely black. File sizes are smaller 2, the black images are only 2mb. Could it be possible the data is no longer getting recorded to the memory...

The first thought I had come to mind was the shutter has failed but, the Canon 1D MK II shutter is capable of 150,000 actuation. If you feel this is not possible then another thing you may want to look into is the memory card needing to be cleared of pictures and formatted in the camera, always format your memory cards in the camera. The Canon 1D MK II has two memory card slots it is possible to have one card undersized and it's run out of space, the camera will not automatically shift to the unused card it needs to be done manually through the small screen on the back.
This just happened to me while in a portrait shoot the battery died to the point it wouldn't even show the setting on the top LCD screen or the viewfinder. I replaced the battery and continued to shooting. The camera had been set on RAW but after the battery failure it began shooting RAW+ s jpg. If you had the camera set for jpg images and the battery failed as it did mine then it's entirely possible that the camera defaulted to small jpg files. Okay last suggestion and possible the most important. The Canon 1D MK II with original firmware installed is capable of working with a 4gig memory card Compact Flash or SD, if you have installed a larger card and just attempted to shoot with it without formatting, the camera will refuse to cooperate. If this is the case and you have installed a 8gig memory card(s) for example first try to format the card and if this failes then you need to go to the Canon site download the updated firmware for that camera and do an update. Everything will be good after you do this, when I did the update for mine there were seven updates one of which corrected the limitations on the memory card size. If the lens contacts are dirty and the camera is getting poor information from the lens you would I think receive a code 99 so not receiving any code of fault I'd say it's the card.

Cheers

Im getting an Error 99 on my EOS-300D Digital Camera when I turn off my YN 465 Speedlite flash gun (still mounted) and then I start shooting manually without the flash. Help please, its a bit annoying, but...

To fix this err99 issue, do the following
1. Turn off the camera. 2. Remove the lens, battery, and CF card. 3. Allow the camera to sit without power for approximately 20 minutes. 4. Insert a fully charged battery, and turn on the camera.
If it appears again, then proceed to next steps 1. Turn off the camera. 2. Insert the CF card. 3. Turn on the camera. 4. Format the CF card in the camera.
If you still get the error you should send your product to canon for servicing.

After inserting the sandisk into my computer, I get an error message. It says I/O device error. What does this mean?

It usually means that your Input/Output device (e.g. Card Reader either internal or External) is not compatible with your Flash card which is a 'newer' high speed and high capacity medium (OR your Flash card is a new one and has not been formatted). You can check that your card reader is working by inserting a 'standard' (not ULTRA) working lower capacity card (1GB or smaller). Hope it helps: let me know hoe you go.

Compactflash reads error

You need to verify that your card is confirmed to work in the MR8 at this site:

http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/support/MR8_Operation_CF_20071213.pdf

It is OBVIOUS that your card is not acceptable because it is larger than 2GB.

You take the .wav from each track from mr-8 and insert to desired track in your software. Use a CF Card reader to make this easier.

How to load tape

it's not obvious indeed!
The idea is to;
1. take out the ring (try it by releasing the back part first! easy does it.
2. put tape into the Dymo 1855 mk II by pressing the white lever down
3. then take the tape you pushed through and guide it through the ring.
4. Put the ring back into the Dymo.

It worked for me ;-)

Good luck,

Marc

My pc says it does not recognize my Fostex MR8-MK11 when hooked to USB

The drivers must to be installed

Do this:

1) BE SURE that you have been set the right driver on your computer
2) If not go to USB "unknow device" (My Pc >> Properties >> Hardware >> Device Manager)
and select Properties >> Update Driver

3) Insert the CD of MR8 or select the path in your computer where the drivers are

4) Install the driver

PS: If you are installing the driver from internet, "save" the driver to your computer first
