Question about Cameras

2 Answers

Hello. When I download pictures to my computer, the camera sends,in addition to current photos, a series of photos I took last year. These older photos do not show up when I review photos on the camera so I can't view them to delete them (which I thought I already did some time ago.) I have an XD card in the camera but I don't think the old photos were recorded on that...Can you help?

TRANSFERRING PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Youcan copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off yourmemory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing anyprograms.

Can't upload photo's to computer . The Camera does not unload the current shots I took. The computer informs me there is no pictures on the camera, but when I press review on the Camera it shows a number...

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Trouble with downloading photos

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The card reader doesn't care what camera took the pictures, so you can use it with any camera (assuming the card itself fits).

I can't figure this out. I am computer dumb and my husband always did this stuff for me but he died last year.I am trying to get the photos I took into my laptop so I can send them.

Ok this is an easy one.. You need to get a USB cable and software. The download link below, is for the driver, you install this Driver, as administrator, right click, install .exe and select run as Administrator http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/software/
Now after you install the software you plug in the camera to the PC, via the USB port, (any) and then turn the camera on, it should be detected and then you run the software and "Get" you pictures. Also to help i recommend you get a Picture resizer, and use it to make the pictures the right size to send.. Link below, http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx get it and down load and install, like before, then when you wish to resize a picture, you right click, and select resize.. follow instruction, then you can "Attach" the Picture to an Email.
If you don't have the cable etc. get one from say eBay...link below to give you the idea.

Did not get a disc with my dpix 5200 camera im unable to send pic

Prakticam, unhelpfully don't have anything for their cameras more than a couple of years old and don't seem to care if you mislay the disc you paid for.So be warned, don't buy Praktica. I have the 5200, you have firstly to put your usb in computer, switch on camera, switch camera to view pictures taken mode, and because it auto switches to take picture mode you then carefully attach camera end into camera whilst camera is still switched on! Then go to my computer and click on F: the pictures download. Then to save them click on first pic, hold shift key down and then click on last pic they should all highlight, right click and then hover 'send to' and send by left clicking to my documents. I remember that it took me 4 hours to work it out. Found this looking for manual to download, cannot change date now......

I would like to learn how to resize the photos on my camera. Is this possible? If so, please tell me how.

hi,

some older model cameras (like 1990s-2000's) have that problem where the pictures coming out of the camera are just huge. Depending on how old the camera is the answer is in the owners manual or the help file in the camera software in the computer. You may have to download an additional resizing program(google or download.com), which may be easier to use and copy and paste your pictures into that software, crop and adjust and save them like that. Im not a camera wiz and own a 30.00 cheapcam, but my cousin has one like that and it took me
over an hour to navigate that antiquated software and figure it out. Newer windows version have a rudimentary crop and resize function within my pictures,(view) you can try that too.

good luck

Pictures gone!

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for. Recommend the last program listed on this page:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st?keywords=card+reader&rs=172282&page=1&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Acard+reader&sort=price

After you've recovered the photos and backed them up on your computer, recommend formatting the card in your camera (note that this will erase all photos on your card). Look for the "Low Level" format option in your camera's menus. A low level format should help prevent this from happening again.
