Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

If there is power available for the unit, thsi will lead to a busted thermal fuse.

Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

My Maytag Bravo Steam Dryer runs for about 5 minutes and gets hot and then kicks the breaker in the breaker box. HELP!!

Hello there:
It blows fuses or trips the circuit breaker Electric dryers use 220 volts or two power lines of 110 volts each. Some components in the dryer need only 110 volts; the heating element requires 220 volts. So it's possible for one part of the dryer to be fine and another part to have a short circuit. Short circuits can be caused by the heating element, the main power cord, or any other part of the internal wiring. To decide where the problem lies, unplug the dryer, then:It could be also wired backwardes so make sure to have this checked'

If the circuit breakers or fuses remain on and/or intact when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the dryer. Contact a qualified appliance repair technician. If the circuit breaker trips or the fuse blows when the dryer is unplugged, it's likely the problem is with the house wiring, fuse box, or circuit box.

My basement flooded with about a foot of water. Now the dryer wont turn on. Is there an internal fuse or reset? or am I looking at a new dryer?

Make sure the motor still turns (by turning the drum) Then, with the unit unplugged, check the thermal fuses and thermostats. Also, make sure you still have power to it (that the breaker didn't trip from the water.)

Maytag (2002) electric dryer quit working, has no power.

Part number LA-1053 is a high limit t'stat/fusable link kit. A restricted vent is the number one cause for failure of these components.
After making sure vent is thouroughly cleaned you may want to have a pro come out to install the kit. If you decide to tackle it yourself, mmake sure POWER IS REMOVED from dryer, prior to attempting repairs.

There is an internal fuse. It is called a Thermal Fuse. It is not resetable it is only replaceable. It is located in the back of the dryer. Unplug the dryer and locate the thermal fuse and replace it. Two wires conect the to it. Also I would check the breaker to the dryer. Thanks and good luck. I you need futher assistance let me know and we will get through this together.

I have a Maytag DE50 dryer and the drum belt broke. Anyone have a diagram or instructions on how to put the new belt on?

Ignore gas references if electric dryer.
Unplug dryer and shut off gas. Disconnect gas line. Tip dryer onto its front. Remove back panel. Unscrew and remove inside back manifold. Place belt around drum and fit into pulley wheel(s) on motor shaft. (There may be a spring loaded tension arm on one of the wheels. Install the belt on it so that it pulls the belt tight around the drum and pulleys.) Check friction gasket (that the drum rotates on) on manifold and replace it if worn thin. Install manifold. Install back panel. Reconnect power and gas.

Usually you will encounter a situation where a wire will burn off and in so doing, it may trip a breaker,(turn it off then back on to be certain), or if fused, it may blow a 30 amp glass fuse or 30 amp cartridge fuse. Replace both tho eliminate any doubt. If all checks ok, disconnect the dryer from the power source and go internal to find the problem. Below is a popular link to provide you with more assistance, should you need it.
