Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have an 18 cu ft Crown Frigidaire which is 9 years old. It seems to run too much. I am familier with the dollar bill test on the door seal and have tried it. There is some resistance to the bill but I don't know if it is enough. I find no other reason that the unit should run so much. Do you think I should replace the seal and see if that solves the problem. Or, is there another reason for the problem? Thank you. ****

If gasket is seating all around door, and You Food is fairly cold, you probably need some freon the ref. runs longer to make up the temp until unit leaks to low

Can I replace insulation in door only?

Hi - I understand that you recently had something heavy drop on top of your Frigidaire Freezer door. From my experience the condensation does typically indicate poor door seal. When cold air and warm air outside is entering into the freezer it causes condensation. Try checking and see if the door seal is bad; place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check to see if the door is being blocked by anything stopping it from closing it. If nothing is stopping the door from closing then I suggest contacting your manufacturer and see who they recommend to repair the unit. Hope this helps! JK

Why would frost form in the freezer. French door style Frigidaire

Hey friend, I appreciate your post! Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire refrigerator is developing frost. I have identified that a few possibilities could be an issue with a water leak or air leak. You could perform the dollar bill test to assure that the gasket is secure around the appliance. Place the bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. Pull the dollar out, if it sticks the seal is good, but if the bill comes out easily the gasket needs to be changed. If the gasket appears to be in good condition I would recommend having a professional come out to diagnose and repair the refrigerator. -Matt

My frigidaire automatic defrost upright freezer gets ice build-up at the top right at the front any suuggestions

This is just a general answer but it may mean that the door seal is leaking. Try running a dollar bill under the seal to see if that area is looser than the rest of the door seal.
Look inside the freezer for model number.

I see moisture between the glass panels of the door.

Hello roderick234 - From what you have described it sounds like the beverage center has a poor door seal. When cold air and warm air outside is entering it causes condensation.

My gibson upright freezer is not freezing

Hello - From what you have described it sounds like you might be experiencing some form of sealed system issue or a bad door seal. This can include the compressor not working correctly, the evaporator fan not turning, or even coolant in the lines not at the correct levels to properly cool. If the compressor is running, humming, or even a little warm then that is typically normal. However if the compressor is running hot, then it is over working and the issue could be before the compressor in the evap fan, coil or coolant lines. Trying checking if the door seal is bad; place a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet double check the door from closing then replace the gasket. If any proves to be ineffective, you would need to contact your manufacturer and then a professional to move forward accurately.

Test the gasket by closing the door on a dollar bill. If you can pull the dollar out easily then the gasket is not sealing. If the gasket is OK then the auto defrost function may be not operating. High humidity and opening the door frequently can also cause some frost build-up.
