Question about Sunpentown WA-1210E Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Sunpentown WA-1210E We ran the unit all night and it only went from 75 degrees to 74 degrees. We purchased it two years ago - didn't need to use it last year so wondering if there's something lost in the one year storage.

Cold air does come out and the compresser turns on and off. Just doesn't cool the room. Is there freon or something that should be added?

The unit is probably undersized for the space. Rule of thumb is 12000 btu per 500 sq ft. Take a thermometer and measure the entering air to the unit and then hold it in the outlet air stream you should see a temp. difference of about 10 to 15 degrees if it functioning properly. Hope this helps 2rns4u <*{{{>(

Air conditioner wont cool below 75 degrees

Hi, Does thermostat on a/c goes lower than 75? put hands close to air coming from a/c is it cold, like 50, if it's cold like 50, maybe you a/c are to small for space, check a/c b.t.u's ( british thermal units) how many b.t.u's is your a/c , there are a chart, for size of room and how many b.t.u's you'll need to cool space (room), or possible if air coming from a/c are 75, your compressor could be short cycling, it hard to tell when fans are working, listen carefully to hear if compressor makes clicking sound, place thermometer close to a/c vent and let me know temp, maybe there's freon leak. let me know temp of air coming out from a/c, then i could tell you exactly what's problem. good luck.

My Sunpentown WA-1210E airconditioner stopped working. It emitted several beeps and the power light is blinking continuously. When I unplug, wait a few minutes and replug in the unit, it shows the same...

Have you checked the water container in the unit? It has a float switch that when it is full it will not allow the unit to run so that it will avoid spilling water on to the floor. Hope this helps 2rns4u <*{{{>(

AC changes temperature by itself!

If it's not some sort of built in economizing feature, someone else isn't getting up and changing the temperature while you are asleep and the air conditioner fairy is playing tricks, then the control PCB is in need of repair and will have to be repaired through a sears authorized repair center.
I am a bit surprised that it will allow you to set the temperature to a low 70 degrees as this is pushing the limits of an air conditioner. They tend to freeze the coils at around that temperature.

Fan blows.. no cold air... no hot air exhaust blowing

This sounds like you either need to clean or replace the filter, but if the filter is some what new you might want to take a look at the coils just past the filter, if the coils do not have a shine to them then you might want to buy some coil cleaner (i found simple green or formula 50 works great), then you will have to spray the coils with the cleaner, let sit about 10-15 min, then give it a very good rinse with warm water. After that it should work like it is brand new. Enjoy!

My unit turns off by itsself

Probably is the problem. These units have a float switch in them and won't run if they fill up to protect your floor. What you can do is connect a tubing to the drain pan and either drain it out side or into a larger container. Hope this helps 2rns4u <*{{{>(
