SPEED QUEEB AWS17NW HOW DO I INCREASE SPIN SPEED IT SPINS WAY TO SLOW CLOTHES ARE STILL WET

Well could have a bad motor, and depends how much are you loading into it. Remember the more cloths you put in it and all that water collects in the cloths and weighs it down. Try a Smaller load! Unless this waster is a HE Washer it wont.

Washer motor humms and won't spin after filing up with water

remove the water pump from the motor but not from the hoses and start the washer. if it starts then you have a sock or something caught inside the pump holding the motor. remove the object or replace the pump if needed. if the motor wont start then unplug the washer, remove the motor and turn by hand. if it feels hard replace motor. if it moves then leave motor out and move the gear case where the motor connects by hand. if it wont move then 2 things may happen. 1)gear case lockup or a piece of clothing caught between the tubs.

if the washer agitates but wont spin with the humming sound then I say the later. a piece of clothing caught between the tubs.

Washing machine works but when it comes time to spin it gets stuck the water drains but wont spin you can hear it trying but its like the brake is stuck if I open and close the lid then it will spin and...

Assuming that you have a Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain washer.

If you lift the lid, put it down again and the washer begins to spin, the problem is likely in the transmission "Neutral Drain Assembly".

Those cams/gears etc. in that assembly keep the washer from spinning until all of the water is pumped out and then go into spin mode.

Apparently, by opening and closing the lid, torque from the motor starting throws the cams into the right gears so that the washer will spin.

Ours had the same problem, no spin unless the lid was raised and lowered or we shut off and re-started the cycle.

After looking at the transmission parts list (available on a number of sites) and on the Whirlpool site (Whirlpool makes Kenmore) we noticed that the one of the cams in the neutral assembly which is supposed to have a small spring, didn't on ours when we tore the transmission apart again

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%20W10114743.pdf

Also check the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components.

Found the part number for a kit (Whirlpool part number 388253 Neutral Assembly) for $15.00 and replaced the cams and gears.

In order to get the transmission out, you have to remove the cabinet, the fabric dispenser and both agitators. The top agitator uses a plastic 1/2" drive bolt. You don't have to remove the drum.

Lay the machine down (after disconnecting power and hoses, remove the pump (two clips), the motor (two screws hold two clips on the motor), lift and set the motor aside, remove two 1/2 inch bolts for the motor mounting plate and three 1/2 inch bolts for the transmission. Pull the transmission, remove the clutch (there is a spring clip that holds the clutch on the main agitator shaft, remove the 8 screws carefully the transmission holds 16Oz of oil, remove the clip holding the main spin gear on and check the plastic cams.

If the cam that should have a spring doesn't, the washer won't go into spin mode.

If that's the problem, install a Neutral drain kit, put everything back together carefully and the problem may be solved.

As an aside, the kit cost us $15.00 which is a lot less than the $170 for a new transmission.

Washer wont pump water unless in spin cycle

it is not supposed to pump water unless it is in the spin cycle. On most topload washers the motor turns one way for the agitate cycle and then the motor reverses during the spin/rinse cycle which in turn reverses the pump and causes it to pump the water out.

Wiper fluid wont come out

Yes there is a fuse so check that first, either under the hood or under the dashboard (there maybe more than one).
If the fuse is good continue, if not replace.
The next thing you should do is (with an assistant) probe the connector for the windshield washer (while someone is trying to activate it)
If you have power to the washer pump then replace the washer pump, if not then you will have to take it in, unless you are good at troubleshooting electrical problems.

SPIN CYCLE WON'T START UNLESS DRUM IS MANUALLY STARTED

YOU NEED A NEW COUPLING THAT GOES BETWEEN THE MOTOR AND THE TRANSMISSION...IT'S ABOUT A $20 PART.

Wont drain and wont spin

It sounds like you have a bad clutch in the washer. To diagnose this failure, you would need to pull off the washer cabinet and pull the transmission. It is likely that you would find the clutch band glazed over. It is probably not exerting enough torque to release the brake and spin the washer.

If you find this problem, you can try sanding the band to rough it up. Reassemble the washer and check for proper spin. If this fixes the problem, you will need to order and replace the clutch band.

This type of procedure is usually performed by a service technician. I don't recommend attempting this repair unless you are completely confident that you can safely perform the work.

Also check the motor drive coupler.

Is the lock door light on if not change the wax motor & the main control board (board is approx $169.00+).That is the problem unless the belt slipped off .Common neptune issue you have will most likely repeat itself so,you decide from there.
