Problem for Digital Cameras

Either screen is dark when I power up the camera. I can see previous images but I cannot record anything. Sometimes I can reboot the camera and it will work for a shot or two, but currently even that does not work. I have changed batteries with no good results. They power up everything but do not affect the recording of pics. Jeff
