Sony Vaio wont start up

I have a Sony Vaio, and I left my cousin alone with it. He swears he shut it down normally, but I cant get it to start up since.
When I turn it on the vaio logo appears as normal, and asks for password. I enter password and I get a list of options because windows didnt start successfully.
No matter which one I choose (start normally, Safe Mode, last known config etc), it never loads.
The windows loading logo appears for a few seconds, but then it appears to restart again and the Vaio logo comes back on, asks for password, and the whole process starts again.

Id really appreciate any help as Ive a lot of work stored on my laptop, and Im beginning to panic!
Thanks in advance,
Sarah

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I have Windows XP. I disabled the automatic restart. The blue screen is up now but Im not sure where to go from here. The error code is 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. I tried looking for solutions to this problem but the only things I can find are downloadable programmes which prevent it from happeneing rather than cure it.

What OS are you using, xp or vista?
Above all, don't panic. Desperation will likely cause you to do something you shouldn't and will keep you from following logical troubleshooting steps to diagnose and resolve the error. (Here's a general startup troubleshooting guide that will probably help.)
Try disconnecting the power, removing the battery, and press the power button for few seconds. Then reconnect and try to reboot.
If that doesn't work, try to work through the steps outlined by Sony support here. (and see links within it for further instructions.)
If that doesn't work, you may have a malware issue, in which case you will want to run chkdsk from the recovery disks/console, to try to get windows started so you can clean the system. See info on that here and here. Then follow these malware removal protocols to scan your system and remove any problems found.
Other general startup troubleshooting articles from MS here and here.
You might also find some helpful advice or guidance on recovery options for your model in the forums for Vaio users here..

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Here , here, and here are three good links to help you troubleshoot the stop error codes...

And here and here are MS kb articles that relate to the error code you report, with instructions for solutions

Here here, and here are instructions for running chkdsk. (You will probably need to run this from a recovery disk or the recovery console if you have that installed....)(See here.)

Take your time to read the solutions, apply what makes the most sense or seems most suitable in your situation, and follow the steps logically and you'll be able to sort it out...

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!
