Question about Briggs & Stratton Garden
Just supply the grey wire with ignition power ie key on power. then the fuel shut off will work fine. if no ignition on mower place a toggle switch in the dash and a fused link to the possitive side of your battery to power up the solenoid. if now power available, unscrew the solenoid and remove the pintal then screw back in, it will not shut off fuel then.

I think what you are describing is the fuel shut off solenoid. i am not sure how it wires up but the workaround i have used is to replace the carb with an older model, same approx engine. they dont retool the blocks. find an older model 12 1/2 horse without them you should be fine.the wires if i remember right is gray and black from the solenoid

On the newer engines there is a electric shut off valve on them that's what the wires are for. when you turn key on this will allow the needle pin to open for the fuel to flow into bowl. you need to wire it up to your switch and have juice going to it when the switch is in the on position. good luck!!
