Moisture sensing strip coming off

Can the dryer operate safely without the moisture sensing strip, or should I replace it? I don't use that feature of my dryer.

My Kenmore elite dryer mod 110 62932100 won't stay running.

Some dryers have a moisture sensing strip in the drum area of the dryer. If this sensor gets coated with an insulator, like silicon from the backing on carpets, it does not sense moisture. When this happens, the dryer times out and shuts down. This prevents the dryer from running even after the clothes are dry.

Hotpoint ctd40 will start drying then cut off after 20 mins or so. i have cleaned filters, resovoirs and tested the thermostats which are fine. any suggestions?

Do you have moisture sense on this dryer? Also, do you use dryer sheets? If the question is yes to both, look for your moisture sensor strips inside the drum. They will be a couple of metal strips that may be straight or curved and they will be spaced about 1/2" apart. Get some rubbing alcohol and several cotton balls and wet one of the balls and rub the metal strips. If it comes back blue, keep cleaning with the alcohol and cotton balls until they come back still white. Some dryer sheets will leave a residue on the sensors and it makes the dryer think that the clothes are dry and they cannot sense the moisture. Hope this helps!

GE dryer dcvh680ej0ms runs 3 minutes and shuts off and resets time

On esimple thing to try is clean the dryer moisture sensing bars inside the dryer. Wet clothes rub against these bars and tell the control the clothes is still damp. IF no moisture is detected then she shuts down. So what goes wrong? Dryer sheets have a waxy buildup on them which tends to coat the bars. Moisture cannot penetrate the barrier and therefore the control thinks all is kosher and shuts down. Energy saver feature don't ya know. LOL Rocket scientists no longer have a space shuttle program so they engineering dryers now. LOL
Houston we have a problem.

Gas dyer not staying on, all the light are flashing

Does your model have sensor strips inside? Wash them with windex to remove any moisture barrier on them. They sense wetness and if they don't feel any wetness they make the control think them clothes is dry and it shuts down the dryer thinkin them clothes is dry.

try looking at the moisture sensor strips. usually inside the under the door area. two strips that sense moisture as the clothes roll by. these may be broke, shorted or need replaced?

How can I check the control panel for my dryer, to make sure that is the problem?

Ha Ha what is the problem? Let guess64e70f6.jpeg
Obviously it ain't drying the clothes. Maybe it ain't even running?
Or it could be working just for not too long. If it has auto sensing then the moisture sensing strips might be clogged with something that is preventing the dryer from sensing wetness.1753c2e.jpg That is easy, just windex them sensing strips. If they can't sense wetness then the control will shut down quickly and the clothes will be wet. Lets see what else the crystal ball has...I have some manuals HERE

Inconsistent sensing of condition of clothes

Clean those moisture sensors. Under the filer housing inside the drum is 2 metal strips. As wet clothes rub those a resistance is noted by the moisture sensing board. When no more changes in resistance are noted then the system shuts down and BOOM yer clothes is all peachy.
The junk from the dryer sheets wax over the strips and thus reduces the ability for on board intel to know fer sure if them dang clothes is dry.

Not drying - one of two metal strips inside door is missing - would these bars sense the degree of drying ?

Yes those strips are moisture sensors which will sense moisture when the wet clothes hit them. They operate on a varying resistance and send the info to the main control board.

try timed dry cycle instead of the auto-sensing setting. In your drum if you have auto dry such as less dry normal dry and more dry, There is a sensor sometimes in the drum and sometimes in the exhaust right after the blower. If in the drum then your clothes brush by this and if moisture is sensed then it keeps on drying. With your rack the clothes can't touch the sensor so it tells your dial to turn and that items are dry which in fact are not. Try this and see how it does.
