How much rain falls in a 4x4 box. Say 4" of rain overall, how much gets into the box?

Allow me to rephrase your question... You want to know the volume of water necessary to saturate a 4ft by 4ft area to a depth of 4 in?

Start with the square of the area and convert units to inches.
4'x4' = 16 ft. sq.
1 ft. sq. = 144 in. sq.
Thus 16 x 144 = 2304 in. sq.

Now sum the cubic inches to depth of 4"
2304 x 4 = 9216 in. cu. total necessary water volume.

Since US residents typically measure water volume by gals. convert inches cubed into gallons. 231 in cu / gal (US)
9216 / 231 = 39.8 gal.

So about 40 gallons of water would be needed to saturate a 4ftx4ft area to a depth of 4 inches.

How do I calculate square feet of a room for wallpaper

Measure the length and width of each wall, and then add up the resulting answers. So, if a wall is 9' tall and 12' wide, it is 108 sq feet. If another wall is 9' tall and 11' wide, it is 99 square feet. Your total would now be 99 + 108 or 207 square feet.

If you are doing it in feet and inches, you have to covert the inches to feet by dividing them by 12, since there are 12' in a foot. So with 3", divide 3 by 12 and get 0.25.

How do i convert 60 tons of ashpalt to square yards

AC is approx. 145 lbs per cubic ft.
there are 27 cubic ft in 1 cubic yard
60 tons x 2000 = 120000 divided by 145 = 827.58 cubic ft divided by 27 = 30.65 cubic yards

square yards would depend on thickness of AC.
you can take thickness x sq ft to get cubic ft

in concrete 1 cubic yard =
4 inch thickness = 81 sq ft or 9 sq yrds
6 inch thickness = 54 sq ft or 6 sq yards
