Time to do some routine maintenance, such as cleaning out the temp files, removing unnecessary startups, etc. See helpful articles here and here. I also recommend you run a scan for malware by following the first four steps of these protocols.
Then, if you're still experiencing sluggish performance, evalutate carefully the use of resources by your AV or Internet Security software. (You can use Process Explorer or the task manager to help with this, or see AV comparatives for help with the effects on system performance.)
If you recently updated to IE8 and are/have been using Spybot or SpywareBlaster, or some other program that protects your browser by adding to the restricted sites and the hosts file, see this article and apply the workaround to delete the domains from your browser or hosts file. Also try running with no add-ons, as many older add-ons are not fully compatible with this browser and will slow it down to a painful degree.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

It can some times be that you registry has become rather full

There is a free program call ccleaner which will remove and clean files which are no longer in use.

After run WinASO registry Optimizer this will only do 10 corrections at a time but at least it free and you can at least try it

I found it helped

I have a 512 DDR2 (533 FSB) RAM in one of my slot in Intel D102GGC2 Mother board, can i put a 2 GB DDR2 ram in another slot.If yes then What FSB will match and what is the maximum capacity of ram per slot?

This motherboard will support maximum 2 GB of total system memory. so configuration is should be 1GB + 1GB or one 2GB in one slot. If you attempt to install 2GB + 512MB, this is unsupported. but you can try if might the system can read it or not. there is no serious problem for installing memory exceed than maximum system memory...
Memory supported is DDR2 533 Mhz and DDR2 400 MHz...(sometimes on the market DDR2 533 will described as module name PC2-4200 and DDR2 400 as PC2 3200)

Is the 1Gb RAM you purchase the same make and speed as the original? If not, they may not be compatible with each other or the new RAM module may be faulty.
Try removing the RAM from slot 1 and insert the new 1Gb RAM module in slot and boot up your laptop to test the new 1GB RAM module.
Installing a single 2Gb RAM module should work.

What is the max ram speed my pc can take

According to some research, your desktop has 4 RAM slots available. The total maximum RAM your desktop can hold is 2GB (2048MB). Furthermore, each slot can hold a maximum of 1GB (1024) but cannot exceed the 2GB total.
This means you can theoretically install 2 x 1GB RAM DIMMS in 2 RAM slots or 4 x 512MB RAM DIMMS. Both will meet the desktops 2GB limitation.
The RAM specifications for your desktop are as follows:
RAM Limit: 2GB (2048MB) RAM Slot Type: SO-DIMM RAM Type: DDR1 (not DDR2 or DDR3) RAM Speed: PC3200/DDR400 ECC Type: Non-ECC
TIP: The RAM is DDR which means that while you can install them as singles (single-channel mode), the system will see a speed benefit from installing them as matched pairs (dual-channel mode).

Hp Compaq dx2200 MT RAM Problems

Firstly, you have to know that you can upgrade RAM as Double or Half of your pre-installed RAM. For example, like your pre-installed RAM is 256 MB, you can only upgrade RAM of capacity 128 MB or 512 MB. Secondly, check your previous installed RAM's speed that is shown in Ghz. You can only upgrade RAM to its similar speed, otherwise you get slow performance of PC.

I have pentinum4 intel(R) celeron processor 1.3 GHZ processor. I want to increase the speed of my processor without any hardware change. I have 40 GB HD & 512MB with windows XP RAM.plz help

you cannot change the speed of your processor unless your processor supports overclocking. however your processor does not support that.

if your computer is running slow try upgrading the RAM to 1GB.
also check to see whether you have unwanted applications running in the background

My comp is running super slow and i wander how much and what best type of ram i can use

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 or DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot. Four slots means 4GB maximum.

Windows XP should run fine with 512MB, but 1GB or more is best.

Vista needs a minimum of 1GB but 2GB or more is preferred.

If your system has a speed issue, it could be from too many startup programs (adding ram would help) or a damaged/corrupt operating system or a virus infection. It could also need a Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragment, your page file could be too small or you hard drive could be running out of space. It could also be that you have certain programs, like TrendMicro PC-cillin, that cause a huge drain on system resources.

Re-post if you are having any other issues (popups, programs won't run, programs close with errors). Include specifics like operating system, system ram, hard drive size, anti-virus running, etc.

the 1gb memory modules need to be low-density ie chips on both sides. the motherboard can only recognise 512mb on each side of the memory module.

Upgrading ram

Hi reisrui, yes it is odd. (It's not the first time I have seen this.)
According to you're manual on page 6, under Specifications. The manual say's you can run up to a Max speed of PC3200 400MHz, 1GB in slot one. In slot 2 you can run a Max of 1GB of PC2700 333MHz in slot 2. Every motherboard I have come across that can run two different speeds of memory. The system will reduce the Max speed to the lower MHz memory speed. If you currently are using 512MB PC3200 400MHz in slot 1 & add 1GB of PC3200 400MHz into slot 2 for a total of 1.5GB of memory. The motherboard will ruduce the total memory over all speed to PC2700 333MHz. Motherboards alway run at the lower memory speed if two different speeds are presant.
I can’t be 100% sure of the 1GB of PC3200 400MHz into slot 2, will run at all! Or if it will be reduce down to 333MHz. I am sure you can run 2GB of PC2700 333MHz, 1GB of memory per slot in you're board for a total of 2GB.

If I can help you further, feel free to post.
Suggestions & comments welcomed.
