It's possible the hard drive has failed. Are the indicator lights on and functioning on the hard drive? Have you tried multiple ports for the hard drive on the computer? Do you have another computer that you can try plugging the drive into and seeing if that computer recognizes it? If it doesnt then the drive has failed, if it does then the Mac just needs configuring.

On the mac, when the hard drive is plugged in, go into Drive Utilities on the system window, here is a page that discusses it more:

Let me know if this doesn't solve it!

I looking for a pcb boad for hd western digital

That would be on another WD2500JB Caviar harddrive

Either that, or start looking on the internet posting -
WD2500JB PCB Board, and see what search hits come up.

Here,.....let me try.............

http://www.hdd-parts.com/18100096.html

Before you replace it, let me ask........
1) Was it in a Desktop PC?

2) Was it in an external harddrive?

External harddrive?
Then suggest you obtain a 3.5 IDE (PATA) external enclosure,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3883498&CatId=2780

In an external harddrive there is a small interface circuit board.

The Harddrive plugs into the small interface circuit board, and the USB cable is attached to the small interface circuit board.

It is this small interface circuit board that usually goes bad.

The external enclosure is just like the case of the external harddrive.
Has a USB cable going to a small interface circuit board, and the harddrive plugs into it.

WD 500G HDD suddenly un-readable; changed name to local disk, says I need to format in order to use it. I have tons of important stuff on there.

Could you confirm if the problem with the drive not being recognized is a problem with the USB cable? I have a 250GB passport and it worked fine with my XP. Once I decided to reformat it to NTFS and tried to do so by plugging into my new windows7 laptop the problems started.

Have a question..i was using my external hard drive just fine last night..and it fell off my night stand and now all i hear is a beep sound and now it wont work...any ideas what to do? please help...i have...

Unfortunately the hard drive is toast, the only hope of retrieving data is take it to a well equipted computer service store in the hope of extracting the imformation, this will be hit and miss whether it can be successful.

Just got an lg ge20 not working on mac

I wish I could tell you that your Mac is compatible with the LG GE20 20X DVD Burner but unfortunately it is not.

Here are the system requirements for this burner
LG GE20 20X DVD Burner Technical Specifications

The CD included is not the only item that is not compatible with the Mac, it is also the DVD burner itself. It is only windows compatible I'm afraid.

However, I do know that the Apple.com online store, has a comparable DVD+RW burner, the
LaCie 22x d2 DVD+RW with LightScribe
which will work with your iMac.

This is a genuine incompatibility issue.

If you had an Intel iMac, there actually is a workaround process where virtual machine software, like VMWare Fusion or Parallels, could be installed, with a version of Windows XP, Vista, or 7, display as a 2nd terminal within a Mac OS X desktop.

What's makes this effective, is that the LG GE20 could work with a windows virtual machine and because software like VMWare for example, can share devices, including optical CD/DVD drives, the Mac could share that drive with the windows virtual machine.

But since you do not have an Intel iMac, unless I am reading the description of your Mac computer(Apple iMAC Mac Notebook) incorrectly, the LaCie burner information, I provided above, would be the best option for your model of iMac.

Again, if I have described your model of Mac incorrectly let me know and I will be glad to assist further.
