Check the wiring that runs below the fan for nicks and cuts. I had this error code and was in the process of junking my dehumidifier when I noticed the wiring going from the capacitor to the compressor and a few other wires had somehow been chaffed and cut by the fan blade. I had already thrown the control panel away by this time so I don't know if replacing those wires would have cleared the code or not.

My Danby dehumidfier model DDR2510E showed the code E2 after I emptied it and now won't work and no where in my manual does it say what to do or what it means.

Hi There,
The E2 error you are receiving is likely the float switch sensor when turns the system off when the bucket is full. Please contact our customer service department to be connected with a service depot in your area.

Danby DDR401. Can't get it to remove moisture from the air.

Hi Fred, let me see if I can assist you. If your dehumidifier doesn't seem to run often but the humidity in the room is high, try adjusting the humidistat control on the dehumidifier to a dryer setting. If the dehumidifier seems to run constantly, but there's little or no water in the container, there may be a problem in the refrigeration system. Try cleaning the unit. If that doesn't work, you can't repair the refrigeration system yourself, you need a qualified appliance repair technician to do that.

What is the size of the drain connector on a Danby DDR401 not a garden hose connector, that doesn't fit? THX Mike

Strange but true. I had tried to use a steel/brass connector from a garden hose. Although the same size as a normal garden hose connector when used with the nylon threads on the humitifier it simply would not tighten without coming off. I went to my local hardware store and tried plastic/nylon hose adapter to hose connector and it worked like a champ? Although it worked it to if overtightened (and not to much) would also want to fall off? it worked ok and everything is fine.....cheap engineering.

Hi,
If you haven't done so already, try removing and cleaning the inlet filter screen which is almost certainly just behing the inlet grille. If this is blocked with fluff then no moist air will get to the cold pipes, so little or no water will be extracted. There's also a chance that the humidity sensor is clogged with fluff, so fooling the system into thinking the room is pretty dry. In that case, the compressor will not run.

A running compressor can usually be detected as a deep throbbing from the machine.
If it is running, but not cooling the pipes, then you may have lost the refrigerant from the system via a leak. If the air coming out of the machine is warm (caused by the compressor running) but there is no water produced this is usually the cause.

If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills.
If they do not, please hold off on the rating and add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D
