The secondary coil on the gas valve is not operating. The coils on the gas valve need to be replaced.

I have a GE gas dryer DBVH512GF1WW. The heat is inconsistent. I noticed the ignitor glowing and then a flame shortly after on the initial time I turned the dryer on. Then after the flame going out after...

sounds like bad gas coils located on top of the gas valve, when the coils start to fail the ignitor will glow, the coils let the gas in until the coils heat up and then ignitor glows but no gas.when the coils cool down they might work again for a short time until they heat up and fail again.if the flame lights and goes out after like 30 seconds and goes out and keeps doing this you have a block either in the dryer or the vent line but it sounds like you have bad gas coils.unplug the dryer, get at the valve, pull off the wires going to the coils and check them with a meter, one should be open, just remove the two phillips screws pull off the cover and slide the coils up off of the posts, unplug them and put the new coils on,you'll see like a little piece of plastic on the top of the coils, this fits intoo the cover so they line up correctly and holds them in place, also on the larger coil there's a spacer on the post,if you don't see it look inside the old coil, poke out the spacer and slide it onto the post and then install the coil.

Furnace kicks on but the gas stays on for about 6 seconds and then shuts off and repeats this two more times and then stays off for 20 minutes and then starts all over again

This tells me that its either an ignitor or flame sensor. You will need to check to see if the ignitor is working by watching it when the unit comes on and if its not then replace the control board for the ignitor or the ignitor itself. If it is coming on then its the flame sensor. Sounds like the ignitor though. I would check that. These go back on a reg. basis.
Feedback is apprec. Thanks.

Turns on but. Will not heat upb

The areas that come to mind is the ignitor and/or sensor has gone bad The most unlikely is the gas valve but it is a possibility. I check for a thermal fuse on your model It does not come with one. That eliminated another cause.

Attached is a picture for reference.

When the dryer is turned on, the ignitor ( #74) will start to glow and in a few seconds to a bright orange color. The sensor ( #79) which is located on the outside of the flame tube, detects the heat intensity from the ignitor. Once the ignitor has reached its limit when operating correctly, the sensor will give a signal for the gas valve to open and release gas through the burner where the ignitor will light the gas. This process repeats several times when drying a load.

Defective ignitors will either have no glow or the will glow a little bit.

Hope this helps you out.
Always you caution when working on appliances.

Hotpoint oven will sometimes preheat to temp, sometimes not, when it does it will not stay hot enoughto cook the food...replaced control board...still dont work..checked thermostat, works fine. glo plug...

if it's glowing but not igniting the flame in less than 40 seconds you have a lazy ignitor, change it out.open the draw unser the oven door and on the left or right side of frame not the door you'll see a tag with the model and serial number, give your parts store the model number and they'll give you the correct ignitor

Goodman gmnt060 3b doesn't light

check for 24vac between wires on gas valve about 5-10 seconds after ignitor starts to glow. If ignitor does not glow, check for 120 vac to ignitor after inducer goes on.
First...sequence of operation..power to W, inducer motor gets 120v and starts, 10-15 seconds later, ignitor gets 120v and glows, 5-10 seconds, gas valve gets 24v and opens, after 3-4 seconds the flame sensor approves flame and unit stays on. If this is not happening, it has to be in this sequence. Which ever is not happening and you do have voltage to that component, that component is bad. If you are getting a error code on board after it tries to light, pay attention to the code. if a 1 lock out code, that just means it tried 3 times and did not recognize a flame.

Dryer Model DE306 has stopped heating

First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.

How do you light pilot light?

Dryer does not have pilot light.  There is an ignitor that glows when the dryer is started and lights the flame when the gas begins to flow.  With the front of the dryer off start it up and look for the glow. when it glows hot enough (or on a newer model it might be a spark) the gas should ignite.  When the flame sensor sees that the gas is ignited it shuts off the ignitor and keeps the gas valve open until the temperature sensor gets high and shuts it off.  When the temp sensor cools down the cycle repeats.
If no glow or spark-->bad ignitor If no gas flow-->bad flame sensor or bad gas valve coil If gas comes on and goes off quickly-->lint filter and/or vent pipe or outlet may be clogged or bad flame sensor.

Maytag Gas Range.. Oven comes on then goes out in 20 seconds

Sures sounds like the ignitor is causing all the problem. Simply becasue the ignitor is lighting does not mean it is good. Your unit incorporates a flat style ignitor and it must draw 3.2 - 3.6 amps in order to fully open the oven safety valve. There are only two ways to verify this. The first and more professional way is to measure the amperage draw of the ignitor after it has been glowing for approximately 45 seconds. I feel certain you will fnd the draw 3.2 amps or lower. The second would be to make an intelligent guess and order part number 74007498 which is an ignitor for your oven. If we can help further feel free to respond.

Rheem Furnace sometimes takes a couple of ignition cycles before

Try cleaning the flame sensor. It is located right besides the last burner. Looks like a thick piece of wire. Take steel wool and gently remove the carbon that has built up. Should only take 4 or 5 strokes. Let me know how it goes after that. ken

Won't srtart

Check at the gas valve to see if you are getting power to the terminals after you hear the click shortly before the ignitor stops. If no voltage ...replace the board.
Sequence is

induction fan on, if pressure switch is reading ok condition---->

Ignitor is powered for up to 20 seconds (depends on model) ----->

Gas valve is energized ----> if flame is present everything just works away, if no flame in 3 seconds sequence starts over for set number of tries or continuously (again depending on the model)

Hope this helps

if 23/27 volts is present at gas valve then replace valve but bad valve is not very common usually, its the board.
