I'm trying to install a canon mp610 printer on my dell inspiron, to replace the previous model, mp600. The installation disc won't complete the installation because it says another printer is set up on the computer, despite the fact I have deleted everything else in the "printers and faxes" icon on the control panel. I would be very grateful for some help
The drivers for the printers you deleted may not have been deleted from the system print server.
Play it safe and make sure you have source files for re-installing any print drivers you delete. From the "Printers and Faxes" window, select File/Print Server. Select the DRIVERS tab, delete any drivers referring to the Canon printer.
Reboot or alternatively, use the services.msc to stop and restart the print spooler service. Now try to install your new drivers.
