Question about Computers & Internet

Installing printer I'm trying to install an mp610 on my dell inspiron computer, to replace an mp600. The installation cd told me that another printer was set to the computer so I deleted everything on the "printers and faxes" but it's still saying the same thing and won't let me continue with the installation. I would be very grateful for some advice. Thanks

Did you just delete the files or did you uninstall the software? If you just deleted them, you may have to use a registry fixer.
Make sure that the last one was uninstalled first using Add/Remove programs. You should also delete all Temp files too.
Hopefully this solves the problem, if not you can download the latest software from the Canon site.

I have a new computer with Windows 7. Also have

I have just come off the phone to canon and they advised me that they have and will not have for some time any drivers for any Canon product that is running with Windows 7, which i think sucks... a huge company such as Canon and they are wayyy behind on technoligy, i told them i have installed Windows 7 and they told me im better off going back to XP which i will do, i was also informed that they are expecting Microsoft to release the driver for my MP600 to run on Vista 64 bit. omg that is old now and who wants a 64 bit pc anyway lol more trouble than they are worth but i guess Canon will eventually have the drivers i need one day but they are very much on the back seat at the moment.

Trying to install printer

You can download the driver/software from the printer manufacturers website. Just click on the support link, lookup your model # and then download & install the drivers for the operating system you are running. This will take the place of the installation cd so you should be able to install using this method. Hope this helps.

Can't install mp610 printer

The drivers for the printers you deleted may not have been deleted from the system print server.

Play it safe and make sure you have source files for re-installing any print drivers you delete.
From the "Printers and Faxes" window, select File/Print Server.
Select the DRIVERS tab, delete any drivers referring to the Canon printer.

Reboot or alternatively, use the services.msc to stop and restart the print spooler service. Now try to install your new drivers.
