Does it give the name of the file it cannot find? Chances are you have a broken Windows or just a system file has become corrupted.

You don't mention what Operating System you are using.
If its Vista, just insert the Restore CD, and afetr answering a couple of questions, the CD will ask you if you want to repair the boot file.
Select yes, and Windows Vista will do the rest for you.
If you are using Windows XP,
It appears that you have a corrupted or missing file, probably due to a bad shutdown, or an infection of some sort.
You should use your RESTORE CD, and boot from it.
Select the Repair option, and perform a CHKDSK /p command.
This command will not only check for your disk integrity but also check and replace basic files needed for your computer to start up properly.

Windows cannot access specified device, path, or file... app perm

sounds to be a bug in the system

ensure the program is working, goto system restore and turn it off
turn back on again, this will remove all the old ones, they could have the bug in them,

create a restore point now, then download "combofix.exe"
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

run this

it gives a report when finished, the top section shows deletions, this is the stuff it found

Fsck error HELP! HELP ! HELP!

fsck is a file system error check command. Try the root password of nothing, (just the enter key), when ask for the password. Then use the fsck command to repair the file system before rebooting.
fsck - check and repair a Linux file system Try fsck with no options.
SYNOPSIS fsck [ -sACVRTNP ] [ -t fstype ] [filesys ... ] [--] [ fs-specific-options ]
DESCRIPTION fsck is used to check and optionally repair one or more Linux file systems. filesys can be a device name (e.g. /dev/hdc1, /dev/sdb2), a mount point (e.g. /, /usr, /home), or an ext2 label or UUID specifier (e.g. UUID=8868abf6-88c5-4a83-98b8-bfc24057f7bd or LABEL=root). Normally, the fsck program will try to run filesystems on different physical disk drives in parallel to reduce total amount time to check all of the filesystems.
If no filesystems are specified on the command line, and the -A option is not specified, fsck will default to checking filesystems in /etc/fstab serial. This is equivalent to the -As options.

I installed Dimage x onto my new laptop with windows vista. First, I received a message that it was not compatible...but then there was something to click that made it compatible. After that I downloaded...

I can't help with the techy side I am afraid but we have the same camera and also have a vista laptop. We have not had a problem but I don't think we have ever tried plugging the camera into the laptop as I just put the sd card straight into the laptops card reader and save straight from it. Easy peasy.
Glad I spotted this though. Good luck

My Toshiba Laptop

click Start>>Run>> (type)Msconfig>>Click ok
System configuration utility window will open up
U will see few tabs at the top like General,Startup
Click on startup tab
At the bottom click disable all>>Close>>It will ask for restart
Restart the computer
when the computer restarts you will get the message
You have used the system configuration utility
Check the box at the bottom Do not Show this Message Again and click ok
Now you wont see the icons that use to load up on the right bottom of your system, however they have not been deleted just hidden,if you want to access any of those programmes that use to appear before
Click start>>All Programmes>>and clik the application you need to open.
