AC fan motor keeps burning out bearings

I have a frigidaire 3 1/2 ton heat pump and air conditioning unit. Its 6 years old and has gone through 7 fan motors. It is still under warranty and the company that installed it keeps replacing them. Each motor gets very loud on start up about a month before it stops starting. The 7th motor has just started making the same noise. The AC company replaced blades, checked exhange and electric. The last motor only lasted 2 months. I am desperate for advice to help get my AC company the knowledge to fix this!

The problem is the fan mounting screws are comming loose and causes the fan blades to be knoed out of balance, it is a poor design and the fans are made of aluminum so get them to replace the fan and add plumers tape tothe motor on the bottom and runt the metel tape up to the frame so that the motor does not wiggle and knock the blades again. I won't mention the name of the company but it has been a problem for them for a few years. Alll they would have to do is add a metel bracket to hold the motor solid and put rubber mounts on them.

Hopefully they have replaced the start and run capacitors for these motors and they are rated properly by voltage and microfarad specs. These capacitors properly start the motors during each run cycle and are a vital component to the motors well being and operation. Replace capacitors

I have a 6 year old Rudd heat pump. The AC would run for a while and the compressor would shut down until I pushed the reset button. An AC contractor came out and looked at the unit and bypassed the reset...

The reset button that he is talking about is probally the high pressure manual reset. There are reasons that this can trip.
1. Dirty condensor. 2. Condensor fan motor not up to par. 3. A liquid line dryer that is partially blocked. 4. A metering device that is not feeding right. If he verified all these and it still tripped maybe a bad switch. Anyways, with it bypassed what ever problem that is causing it to trip is still there and will get worse and the compressor will burn up and he will come and put in a brand that he likes. Hope this helps.

Have 2 year old Frigidaire FAH105N1T Air Conditioner. Fan stopped working on fan or cool. Serviced twice and they said fan needed to be oiled. Worked 3 weeks then they said it needed fan motor. Bought new...

it possible to replace the defective as follow:
1- take out the unit
2- remove the top cover
3- try to take out the wires from there connections and note each color to witch connection
4- loose bolt of indoor blower to the shaft
5- open the bolt of the condenser fan to the other end of motor shaft and take out the fan
6- open the fixation nuts or bolts of the motor then slide it outside.
7 replace as take care about witch side of shaft is for blower or fan.

Goodman 3 ton outside unit fan not blowing

Motor, wiring and/or capacitor. If the sticker on the side of the motor isn't burned off you can get the motor info off that. Model numbers from the motor do little for locating the motor but my help. Best thing to do is get the AC motor specs and look up online (cheapest) or go to a motor shop. The specs you need would be as follows.
Horsepower-Such as 1/4 or 1/3
Voltage-Most likely 240/1 (240vac single phase)
Rotation-CW/CCW looking at the shaft end of the motor
Amps
Frame size

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan stops spinning after 15 mins

Capacitor, dirty condencer coil causing the motor amps to run too high. But most likely worn bearing on blade side of motor causing it to pull to one side causing it to over heat and shut down. Sleve bearings should have no side play.

Condenser fan works but when heats up it sticks and humms?

this is a sign of bad bearings on motor.you might try oiling the shaft where the bearing is at to help it not stop and stick.this is a sign of replacing the motor pretty soon. if unit smaller than a 12,000 btu's better off buying a new ac unit

Home unit 3 ton won't run

The small capacitor is for the fan motor the other for thecompresor .You can try conecting a booster (or hot start) in paralel to the comp.capacitor .If this doesnt work you have to replace the compresor.
