If fm is ok but am has poor reception the first suspect is the ariel, if the mast unscrews then remove it and put something metalic such as a long screwdriver where the ariel screws in and check if am has improved if so replace the ariel, if this doesn't solve it the tuner may need to be replaced

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Hi, I've had the same problem since I got my 1996 E34 518 a couple of years ago. I've not been too bothered as we can listen to FM, CD or ipod transmitter perfectly OK, but it would be great if anyone knows of a solution to let us receive MW as well. The advice above seems logical but my car doesn't have an aerial to check. Would the rear window heater or something else act as an aerial or is there another way I can check this? Thanks for any help.
I recently bought a 2005 330i and can't get my am morning talk radio; nothing but static! Help!
I have a 2003 BMW M3. About 6 mos ago the AM radio just stopped working. The car has a nav system and the station ID's show up on the screen as though all is fine. I've checked the rear antenna & connection - no problem. I've also verified it's set to the USA AM wave band. Just silence. Too bad sports and one of my favorite talk shows are on AM.
Any thoughts.
