You can burn 'em to DVDs. At 4gigs per DVD, you should be able to store an hour or so of HD video per DVD. Good for backup purposes, but not really for just storing your movies.

If you want to be able to access all your videos quickly, an external HD is definitely the way to go (or an internal HD if you're running on a desktop).

It would be beneficial to invest in a stand alone hard drive, available at almost any big box/Target/WalMart outlet. A 500GB would store all of your videos with no problem, and are not real expensive.

Hope this helps.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Using my ultra flip camera: when I playback my videos on my computer the images are choppy, jumpy or in slow motion while the audio is fine. what can i do?

Two possible Solutions

1) Have you transferred the videos off your flip, and on to your computers hard drive?

USB ports have greatly increased in speed in the last few years but they can still have trouble playing "live" video directly from the camera.

Solution: Plug in your flip. Drag the files to your "desktop" or "my documents" or any other place you like to store them. Play the files from there.

2)Does the video playback ok on your flip? Or on a different computer?

If so the solution is simple, but expensive. Your computer does not have enough processing power/ memory to play back the video. Full uncompressed video is a very large file and most computers older than 2 years have trouble rendering the video frames fast enough. The HD we see on sites like youtube and even on Blu-ray have been compressed. When the files come off the camera they are not compressed and require alot of computing power.

Solution: Buy a new computer. Sorry I know it is an expensive fix. The good news you don't need anything too fancy. A laptop with a 2+ Ghz (gigahertz) processor and 3+ GB of memory, will do the trick and cost between $300-$500.

Hope that helped

Lost time on flip ultra video camera, was 2 hr, now 1:45

The Flip has a hidden file folder where it stores files that might not have been properly removed. To clear these off the Flip. Use the control panel on your PC to allow access to hidden folders and hidden files. Once this is enabled, search the Flip for a folder called "trashes". Emptying this folder will clear the memory and return the Flip to it's full time.

Have a new Ultra HD Flip Video. How do I know when it is fully charged? Does the red light go off or what?

Hello there,

The Flip Ultra should have a rechargeable AA battery pack.

To verify it is charging, the battery icon will be flashing lightning bolt. The red light goes from red to green the moment it is fully charged. It takes six hours before it gets a full charge via the USB.

Please let me know if this gave you enough information. Thank you for using FixYa.

Problem in viewing Videos

The problem could be the memory. The video file is using up all the system resources. Maybe upgrading to 1gb of ram will help.
