I have a proscan 40in..how do i hook up a sound bar

There is no sound bar compatible for this set.

You hooked up the sound bar to the cable box red & white sockets, right. Now you have the soundbar hooked up to the TV red and white sockets. Did you notice any difference with the labeling on the two sets of sockets? The cable box sockets were labeled "Audio Out", but the TV sockets are labeled "Audio In"

AV signals are directional. Any socket labeled "Out" will give a signal from it for connecting to another device e.g. the connection from the cable box to the soundbar.

Any socket labeled "In" is designed to accept a signal from something else, but it won't give a signal out. So you can't connect the TV's Audio In socket to the soundbar's Audio In socket because both expect a signal from something else and neither supply a signal out.

Check the back of the Proscan TV. Is there a socket labeled Audio Out? If so, use that.

How about fiber optic cable or composite cables. I usually recommemd that people do either of these.

Proscan has released hundreds of models of televisions over more than two decades, so I can't be specific without more information. There are also hundreds of different sound bars on the market. The answer given should apply to all situations:

Ideally, the sound bar should be connected to the television using one of the methods (in order of preference):

• Optical cable output from the television into the optical cable input to the sound bar; (best)
• SPD/IF coaxial output from the television into the SPD/IF coaxial input to the sound bar; (really just as good)
• RCA R/L outputs into RCA R/L inputs to the sound bar. (not nearly as good as either of the above)

I have a Proscan Flat Screen TV Model PLEDV2845A. I want to connect my Philips HTL2101A Sound Bar.

I have intially connected both via Coax cable as the soundbar does NOT have HDMI port. I then went into the setup on the TV to Sound, set sound to PCM

Initially it worked fine. 2nd day it will not won't work. Per instructions from Philips I have upgraded the firmware on the SoundBar.


Any ideas

If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.

Check the manuals and seen may be something.
