Question about HP Pavilion tx1000z Notebook
I bought this HP Pavillion TX1000 model from BEST BUY dreictly, during Jul-Aug 1007, in Oak Brook Area, Chicago, IL.
I have a problem with my HP Pavillion TX1215NR notebook, after a year of perfect use, the display just had a problem it just turned on but no display and even not going to boot, my technician diagnosed the unit and he found out that it has the common problem with the TX series laptop as well as with the entertainment series notebooks, that it has a GPU problem with the motherboard, which could be due to the overheat of the laptop that makes its videocard chip to loose the soldering that connects the chip to the motherboard.
I still recommend HP, despite of the defect on my unit, I believe that its quality is better than other brands. Please help me..
I feel your pain!. I has the same problem on the Compaq laptop (same company now).
My recommendation is use it as a home computer.
The quick fix.
Find a flat level service.
Make sure the power is OFF.
Open the LCD screen up to 90 degree.
Apply light pressure from the top left side and move toward the center.
Apply lite pressure for the CENTER back to the left side.
Apply pressure evenly on the F function keys.
THE VIDEO card is right under these keys buy applying the right pressure you will get the card sit correctly into the socket.
I was lucky and able to get my Compaq up and running with this method.
You may have to press it few times to get the board to sit correctly.
Please let me know hot it turns out.

Is the techo going to re-solder the video chip to the motherboard and get the laptop going again, or is he recommending a replacement motherboard?
The overheating problem could be causes by a faulty fan (stop spinning or spins slow) and or dust clogging the fan and heatsink assembly.
The cost of repairing or replacing the motherboard may not be worth it and may be better to put the money towards a new laptop.
You can used the old hard disk by putting it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive.
