Question about Apple MacBook Pro Laptop Computer with Intel Duo Core 15.4 Inch PC Notebook

3 Answers

Admin. password. Here's my dilemma, I don't remember how, but I somehow changed the user name and password. When I activate the laptop, the first thing to show up on the screen is the sign-in logo ( enter admin/user name then password ). Basically, I can't get past that since I don't know what either is. Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to rectify this situation and return the computer to it's original glory.

Re: admin. password.

I think the best way for you is trying hard to remember the password. If you really cannot remember, you can reset password from another user account with administrator credentials or Do-It-Yourself (DIY) third party recovery tool. Google third party password recovery tool or Windows password seeker, maybe can help you.

I don't remember my macbook pro admin password

Generally your administrator password (if it's asking for it in the terminal) is the same password you use to log into the mac if you're the only user on the Mac. There has to be at least one administrator and if yours is the only user then your user account is the administrator.

How do i bypass macbook air master password without a disk

Maybe the owner's manual might make reference to some sort of reset option. If the password is a simple 4 digit code, then guess it. Most peoples' passwords have something to do with the person who set the password, I.e. a nickname, name of a family pet, anniversary date, etc.

Cannot remember keychain password

Thank for contacting Fixya, I will be glad to assist you.

Your keychain password is the same as your Mac User Admin account on your Mac.

If you cannot recall your User Admin Password, then you would need to reset your user password and this will also affect your keychain password.

I hope this helps.

Locked out of Mac Osx can't remember admin password and have no disk to fix and clear it all to reset password

Turn the computer on Hold Command + S Wait till it enters what is called Single User Mode Type: mount -uw / hit enter Type: launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDameons/ hit enter Type: dscl . -delete /Users/"yourusername" AuthenticationAuthority hit enter Type: passwd "yourusername" hit enter Type a new password Then retype password. type: exit then reboot
If you don't know your username before you type the dscl command type: ls /Users and find your account and use that name for the user name.

How to reset the admin password for my Mac OS X 10.2.8

If you have your Install CD
Start up from a Mac OS X Install CD.
Hold the C key as the computer starts to boot from the CD.
When the installer starts, choose your language, and you'll proceed to the welcome dialog.
Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu
Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
Select the user name of your original administrator account.
Important: Do not select "System Administrator (root)". This is actually a reference to the root user. Do not confuse it with a normal administrator account.
Enter your new password. Click Save.
Quit the Reset Password tool, and Restart your Mac.
Once you restart your Mac, you should be able to log in with the newly changed password.
If you don't...
This should work for your version:
To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can just delete the old one.

If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving me a four rating .It will help me
as well. Thank you.

Who is my computer's "Administrator"? How can I change it?

Hi Kaites33,
To create a Administrator account on your MacBook, follow the instructions below, however, please note that this will only work if "Open Firmware Password Protection" has NOT been enabled. Anyhow, it's worth a try.
1. Shutdown your MacBook. 2. Press the power button to start the computer. 3. Immediately press and hold the Command (Apple) Key and the "s" key, until you see white text appear on a black screen. 4. At the prompt, type the following commands, hitting "Return" after each.
  • mount -uw /
  • rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
  • reboot
  • --------------- Once your computer reboots, it will show the "Welcome to OS X" video, and guide you through the process of creating a new Admin User.
Your current Standard User account will not be changed/harmed.
During the creation of the new Admin account, remember to: a) select "DO NOT TRANSFER MY DATA". b) Keep the SAME computer name. c) Choose a DIFFERENT Username (Otherwise it will overwrite your old account)
Once you have finished, you will have two accounts, and will be able to log in to either.
Optionally, when you are logged in with the new Admin Account, you could change your existing account to an admin account, then log out, log in to the old account (which is now an admin account too) and then delete the new admin account.
Hope this helps, and let me know if there is anything you do not understand.

    I forgot my Administrator Password

Take the start up disk for the computer and start from it, once the installer screen comes up hit continue and look in the menu items for a option to reset the password.  Select it and then you will be able to change the password on all the users on the computer.
