Need to reset powershot a620 after opening it

I opened my camera to see if i could fix the zoom button after a 1m fall on the rocks....

Now, all parts are back in place, but the carea will not even switch on.
I know from the vendor that i need to reset it, but nobody can tell me how. I do not want to send it to service center only to get it reset.
Can somebody help ?

If you cannot turn it on, there is no way you can reset it. Maybe there is a technical hardware way to do this. But this will not be documented anywhere.
You can try different combinations of pressing buttons and the power button. Or else, I think the only way left is to send it.

Canon A620 is taking black images/ Can't see images on screen

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. If that didn't fix it... A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

My Canon PowerShot A620 has a black screen, any ideas on how I can fix this? I can't even take pictures, all of them come out black

My A620 JUST started doing the same exact thing last night. LCD works, lens works... but something possibly wrong w/the shutter so it won't open.. everything black.

Check your owner / user manual. I had similar problem and it was caused by "Mode" and "Flash" settings.

I'm not able to set the digital zoom

You can turn on/off the digital zoom. While on shooting mode, press MENU button and go to left end tab menu items. Navigate to "Digital Zoom" and select the desired¡red setting: ON or OFF. Remember that digital zoom can't be used if the screen is turned off.

Remove your batteries and look inside the battery compartment. Notice that there should be three small phillips screws at the bottom of the compartment. Tighten up all of these screws.

My PowerShot A620 lens isn't working

Don't even try unless you know what you are doing - you can get a nasty belt off a charged flash capacitor (around 300volts) - the lens is more than likely clogged up with sand, this will wear the sliding tracks in the zoom very quickly and will render it useless.
You can buy new lens assemblies (Colchester Camera Repairs) but the cost will be high, around £80.00 just for the part.
